Hey guys long time reader first time poster here, I have had a long search through the forums looking for the answer to my question but so far no luck so I thought I would just ask see if anyone had any advice/tips in the removal of the heater core as mine is caput !

I had a vr commodore and there was a dodge way of cutting the pipes and sliding the heater core straight out then sliding a new one in without taking too much of the dash apart then rejoining where the cuts are with heater hose and hose clamps I was wondering if this is possible with the cruiser as well ?

If not what is the easiest way of removing it I have heard stories of the whole dash including the aircon has to come out and if there is any other way it would be a huge help to me

Hi Corey ,Ive never done one but it looks like its all lots of screws and not too hard. I dont think the whole dash has to come out. It looks like you can remove it through the passenger side footwell
One of those electric screwdrivers would make it easier

I have to fix the damper control lever on mine and Im not looking forward to that either

Hey Rosco,

I had to fix my heater control when I first got my cruiser. What had happend was the temperature selection level had come off the mechanism that pulls the cable to open and close the flow to the heater core. I think originally it had a plastic tab or pop rivet connecting the level to the cable mechanism. I replaced the pop rivet/tab with a self tapping screw. No probs for the last couple of years. Hardest part was pulling the dash apart to get to the heater control. I could probably do it in 2 minutes these days with amount of times I've cracked the dash open to install wiring and accessories.

Dont mean to come off as a know it all or anything as I know that you have much more knowledge on the subject of cruisers than I could ever hope to have.

I broke the plastic lever that switches the direction of air to lower/middle/demist vents .

I did something stupid that started of as cable replacement

I agree,once you have been in there a few times,its gets easy(especially with the electric screwdrive)

Cool thanks for that guys I will try it tonight ! and I dont think I will be towing my boss's escavator anymore with my 75 ute don't think it can handle it

One of those bosses huh? As soon as they ask me to tow or cart something around I ask them if they have engine and gearbox insurance.
