Is It Possible? 75 Leaf front to Coil Front

Ok, I realise -anything- is possible with cars given enough time and a fabrication shop BUT

Assume I get a 79 series front diff (axle to axle, earlyish 99 model with the bigger front diff to match mine if I can find one), could it then be as simple as bolting on a 79 series cab and matching springs?

Keep in mind mine is a '91 model 75 series cab chassis and I'm open to the idea of changing cabs as i'm starting to get floor rust and wouldn't mind the extra room in the 79 series cab anyway.

Comments, Ideas? Anyone point me at a thread similar because I couldn't find one with the search button maybe used wrong keywords I don't know.

In theory yes. The 75 series troopy and the CC had the same mounting points on the chassis. The 78 series troopy is the same as the 75 troopy body dimension wise.... so

Check with a tape measure 1st

I think for about $6k you could get a DIY dual cab kit once upon a time, not sure about now.
Wouldnt help the floor rust though

The floor isn't actually rusting yet but i'm worried enough by what I see. It's a single spot the size of like a 10 cent piece so I rubbed it back, sprayed it with killrust and then blacked over it from underneath. Hopefully that will stop it

Also, I don't have a troopy, i'd probably get a 79 series cab (body) and see if I could strap that down

Yes mate very do able for coils i think you would be better of using 80 series front diff so you can keep the 6 stud rims easy to get big and wide aftermarket rims for
For the cab this is a 79 series cab on a 75 the 75's have a shorter chassis than 79 so you will have to remount your tray or move it back about 100 mm or so

pinkfloyddsotm put coils in his 75 series looks aboslut nuts

That thing looks awesome, good proportions, looks like the rear chassis overhang has been chopped down also.

Clint, do you know the owner of that vehicle? Or it's build history?

Could you let me know of some of the pitfalls? For instance, an 80 series front axle will already have spring perches, are the upper spring perches welded to the 79 series body or do I have to make them up and weld them to the chassis?

Were there any other gremlins that occured during the build?

Did the owner do a thread of the build on here? If the body bolts straight down that would be sick. I will go get the bits and pieces tomorrow and take my car off the market. I pretty much just wanted to sell it to get a 79 because I can't deal with the tiny cab anymore, I'm too tall.

i think the cab looks cool but i hate the trays when they are cut short they look like absolute sh1t

Entaran
I was at the stage were you are a while ago i wanted a bit more room and coil comfort but the condition of my 75 and if it was worth coiling it was a no no so i sold it for a 79 series ,but if i did have a mint 75 to start with i prob would have just coiled it,Not to sure who owned it i seen it for sale ages ago as for the spring perches on they 80 series diff yes they are there, for the hats for the top of the coils you unpick them from the 80 series chassis and weld them on your chassis ,non of the suspention stuff or brakets are attached to the body its all on the chassis n diffs

This blue 75 was a ex gov vehicle that had coils pro put in not sure why the reason would be though

that white one is the same 75 with 79 cab he has put his 75 indicator on the the 79 cab . im thinking its a 85 -91 75 series because they didnt come with side blinkers and the 79 cab has the holes blanked off I have seen a 75 with 79 cab in wangara also so maybe a few people have done the conversions
(driving past the one in wangara one day i was seen a 79 then seen front leafs i was like what the oh i see 75/9)

Yeah see my 75 is pretty much Immac. I've spent over 30k on it making it freaking awesome (and it's currently for sale for 18.5)

I can't decide if I want to go thru with a crazy conversion on it, or bite the bullet and get a v8 79 from like 07/08

Well were are all your pics mate this site is fueled by pics

My old 75 was a beat up piece of snot but thats what i wanted and thats how i drove it , and was not worth putting money into it and having my clubsport as a nice dd ,but sold both and bought a neat 79 so best of both worlds , If you have a mint 75 with big lot of dosh spent marswell keep it, dont forget if you by a 79 you have to start your spendings all over again
i think the 75 series cabs look tougher and the shorter chassis is better but i like the 79 coils, cab, dash and big axle studs

You should keep it for a few years and get your moneys worth from it

it would be alot easyer to sell it and update to one with coils.

i coil converted my MWB cruiser only because you cant buy them in oz, i used the standard diffs and 80's coil hats and shock towers
