Mustang was one of the orignal 3 importers when the whole JDM importing took off in 2001.
there was Lost guide with Darren B
Luxury imports with myself
and Mustang with Barry
i bought out Lost Guide in 2003
and then everyone got in on the game and the west was flooded with crap.
i beleive Barry is still in buisness.

INTRODUCTION
Land Cruiser BJ74V 4DOOR Special
A impressive test model , meets for custmers , who needs "Utility"...BJ74 4DR
[Do you want 70series land cruiser, if it has 4door on its lineup?]
When We ask this kinds of questions of 70 series fan, Probably
most of them will answer "YES" We believe. and also, We think Why 70series
doesn't have 4door model??? Actually 60model has 4Door, so it might be
useless 70 has 4door model, but 60series and 70series are totally different
on "vehicle image".
it does make sense? only "me"? who thinks 70 has 4door model, which
taste more "Land cruiser"...
The 70 4DOOR found by the reader of this magazine, is the test model case,
and The advertise division of Toyota didn't know this "Test model"...
We came across this "Test model" when a reader of our magazine, from Aichi
prefecture, Mr.Hayashi Tetsuo, showed us a couple of pictures...
he says "Have you seen 4DR 70series?"
We were very interested in it, and we agrued with "Its exists"...
We've never heard "Middle wheel base chassis with 4DR one piece body..."
--PAGE1 End--
--PAGE 2 Start--
Is this a test car, which will be released by Toyota soon??
This 70 gave a big surprise to 70fans here, and We have had many questions
by many readers of our magazine, so We gave a calling to Toyota Motor
Tokyo branch office,
they said "Did you made a mistake, you see Pajero??"
We, are accustomed with "Land Cruiser", drive LC day by day, Toyota answer
was a shocking... because they recognized that "4x4 Magaznine" can't
distinguish "Pajero" and "Land cruiser".... they feel like so.. oh sad...
finally We found the dealer , sold this "70" to custmers, then We contacted
them...
BTW, Side story....
We heard that Nagoya toyota diesel is famous dealer who's been trying to
selling TLC , and trying to spreading "TLC" in japan since many yeard ago...
a very famous dealer for TLC enthusiasts..
We believe they are the best dealer, who search the new market for 4DR LC
in market, and We thought they sold this 70 4DR for such reasons, to research
market... But We found that it's not...
This 4DR 70 was buit by "Arakawa body industry", a test model, and They accept
custmer order as "Taylor-made" style, but They don't have intention to have
this 70 in their catalogue lineup..
BJ73/74 bear chassis, with The body made by
Continue later......

Lots of these SEB 70's in Saudi Arabia. It is heavily used by the Police. Toyota offers a civilian model as well. They also offer the LC 75 (longer version) heavily used by the police and bedouin tribes in the dunes.
It does great in sand. Only pitfall is the leaf springs and bouncy ride.
They even have a 2009 model available where the headlights have changed. I prefer the older model with the round headlights offered until 2007.

The leaf spring pack can be worked on to give a better ride. My 75 series rear springs can go over a curb with a 500kg load on and you will virtually not feel it. Unloaded it is a bit hard but the new shocks have helped.
Letting the tyres down when off road takes the worst of the bumps out and helps with traction and flotation is sand.
A lot of us prefer the older look and I like the old 84-90 metal grill the most.
All the model info here

i agree with Rosco, you can tweak a leaf pack for the best ride but removing a leaf or two. of course if you are talking a truck then you will have a compromise or the addition of airbags for when you are loaded up.

Im hoping so ,but the paintwork is a bit sun damaged now. For someone who has the gear and space to paint vehicles,it would be good.
Im trying to get it mechanically perfect and try to attract someone like that.
I would hate to see it in the hands of someone who wants to butcher it with a V8 conversion
Might use the money for a 1HD T for the 75.
Maybe I should sell both and buy 105,they are looking a bit cheaper these days

Yes for sure mate if it was still a 3f and someone did a v8 conversion itd be ok but IF i was a mega diesel fan that would be my ultimate combo
105s are good buttt... a 79 would be better

I always point the naysayers to 4wd comps to show how far a leaf pack can go

I didnt mind the 3F but for the fuel consumption. I could have had it rebuilt for $2250 inc balancing which is what I should have done.
Then driven it around for a couple of years and waited for the price of HZJ75 to come down.
Have you ever driven a 105? Its like an aircraft carrier compared to a 75/79 cab. You have a 2 ft wide footwell
