I doubt it unless marketing can identify a need
The old petrol engines were always more powerful than the diesels, but the new diesels give those who want power from their landcruiser more than enough with 11/100 economy.
If anything I think they need a cheaper diesel option for farmers and tradies around 3,5 -4.0 litre. You dont need 200hp for checking the fences and wind mills
But I guess you could just buy a Hilux for that

I really doubt that they will sell the 70 series in the US, do you honestly think that people over there will pay the 35-40k that a 79 or 76 would probably cost? I'm pretty sure most prefer their big, comfortable F-150s and Silverados, a 79 is a truck that will last you a lifetime if you maintain it properly, but most americans are used to buying new vehicles every 3 to 5 years, so I doubt they'd be willing to pay extra for the fact that a 79 will probably never leave you stranded; and I have even more doubts for them being willing to deal with the 70 series rugged ride and lack of creature comforts, even with the new dash, any 70 series is a tractor with A/C as far as comfort goes if you compare it to any american pick-up or SUV.
PD: I love my tractor

There is no way that the 70 series cruiser is ever going to make an appearance in the US. Period--regardless of the engine they have inside of it. There is no product support for it--either service wise or part wise.

If they want to introduce something they can, they introduce new models all the time, but I do agree that they won't bring it in in the near future, the market won't buy it.

I'm not debating their ability to introduce a new model, but to introduce a 70 series would require a change of infrastructure that Toyota hasn't engaged in since it stopped importing the FJ40 in the early 1980's.

I think if you went for a drive in a 1fz petrol cruiser 7x series on and of road you would and seen them tonking through sand @700 rpm with out stalling and keeping up with ease with the traffic you would sell the diesel and get one
most my mates that run 1hzs are allways flakin me that petys have no torque until the see it idling around the streets in 4th

as a 30 vet Cruiser wheeler i can attest to the virtues of both the gas and the deisel.
a healthy gasser Cruiser can do ANYTHING a healthy diesel Cruiser can do... except they drink twice as much fuel doing so.

Im yet to see any hz diesels even patrols reach some of the places the 1fz has takin me
so im thinking "a healthy gasser Cruiser can easily do ANYTHING a healthy diesel Cruiser can do"
twice as much fuel but injection Aussie gas (propain) sorts that out

Yes, but can a healthy diesel keep up with a healthy gasser on the road?

Hey Clint,
I wasn't bagging your engine mate. But me, I just love my diesel. I have only ever driven petrol until I got my Cruiser nearly
2 years ago. I love the fact that it is economical, strong and reliable. Years ago a had a Sigma station wagon then a Pajero .
They were great cars but would drink the juice like a wineo in a bar. Flat out!!! The BJ leaves them for dead economy wise
which is important to me with the fuel prices we currently have. Having said that when I bought my cruiser the price of diesel
went up about 80c in the first few months. Last year the price of diesel peaked at about $1.80ltr where I am.
I'm sure your ute is a kick a$$ ride mate. Its a cruiser
I like the new rims to mate.

I have Spoken with Toyota Dealer and they have confirmed to me that those trucks will be available on UAE Market during next month (September) 2009. As well as the LC 200 series.

something kewl i just noticed is that the 70series has electric mirrors in that pic, also cant work out if that looks like a phone button next to it like a pick up and hang up maybe has bluetooth now? Hey if that dash was in grey like most aussie owners will get a dash matt and few bits and pieces in there and i think it would look quite fine.

Those Mickey T's of yours are cool.
I see alot of H/FZJ's around here. Mostly white, red or grey.
There is a metallic purple one getting around. Fugly.
I am still rethinking wheel rim options. I like my aloys and I think
I'm gonna keep em since I've sorted out my wheel problems.
Time for new rubber soon. Looking at Maxiss muddies or Mickey T's
Cheers.

yes Mate, since 1998 LC trucks came with electric mirrors and bluetooth came around 2008 all those options are standard
we have three category of those Trucks such as .
Option 1
Fully loaded bluetooth, Finders, Winech, Diff lock. 16" alloy wheels, fog Lights
option 2
Fully loaded bluetooth, finders, 16" alloy wheels fog Lights.
option 3
No Bluetooth, no Winech, No Diff lock, no fog Lights , standard rims,
all those 3 options comes with electic Mirrors

it is more the driver than the engine. i have watched crappy drivers in modified trucks not be able to accomplish what a good driver can do in a stockish truck.
as for keeping up on the highway, the speed limit makes both pretty even.

I'd love to try an FZ engine in a small 70, would be alot of fun - never mind the fuel costs though as the fun factor would minimize that.

Hahaha......
Thats what I thought to. My 22 year old 74 has them.
I used them once to set them and haven't touched them since.
Its not like your gonna sit in the rig and play with them
Set and forget.
Being electric its just something else that can got wrong.
