Hi All,

Been having trouble determining the year of my BJ74.
Does anyone know what these numbers mean?
Found them on the air duct that goes under the steering wheel (RHD)

Its hard to see in the second picture but there are dots molded into the the 87 and 88 circles. ?????

The nameplate on the drivers door in the engine bay should have the year.

Looks like its meant to be early 87.Thats how the plastic die/injection machines stamp the age on. You will see it on most things plastic

Everything should be on these plates.

the marks show us when this part was molded. each circle has a numeber (year) and it's divided in quarters.
PE: if you have a circle with a point in one quarter the part was molded in genuari. if you find three points in one quarter was molded in march... each quarter should have three poins maximum (three months)... if you find two quarters with three points and one quarter with one point, it was molded in july...

hey mate wondering how you went i found these in the shed from my olde 89 75 the first pic is the box you have if you dont have aircond it gos between the fan (under the LHS of the dash and to the vent selecting box thing under your sterio this had 84/11 mrked on it but my ute was 89 the two other bits are from a 87 it has the little knee vent in it which i never got round to changing and also on the 2nd pic 2nd line it says 84/11 (hard to see sory phone cam) so mayby you cant go of the plastics bud for the year of your truck

Toyota's suppliers probably did a run of them that was good for 5 years. The plastic injection machines can turn things out like that automatically every few seconds around the clock.
Yours could also be replacements Clint. I think mine are only a year or so older than the vehicle build date
