BJ-73 from Finland build up
Picked this up from Estonia last summer. -85 with 3B. Building it to be a safe, reliable, street legal "no show, just go" rig. Not trailer queen. Going to use it in safaris here in Finland and trips to Russia few times a year. Sometimes it might have to serve as DD also.
1. Previous owners selling pic
2. Couple days after i bought it. Test fitting 37"
3. Drove it few months bone stock, and then it started to make bubles in the cooling system... Bought 3BII and didn´t even bother to open the old 3B. Price was that right! Warn 12k 24V also in there.

Now that is a decent cage. Exellent work. Cant wait to see that on the trails. I noticed the reinforcing bar where you cut (notched) the bib for the 12,000

Nice work!
Wish I could do that sort of work myself, rather than having to pay to have it done, it would cost a fortune to have someone else do that for me.
Thanks for the pics, gives me something to show a panel beater when I am ready for my guard chopping.
Why the chopping of the rear doors for the winch, does the inch or 2 it looks like you have chopped them make much of a difference? And what sort of winch are you putting on the back?
Have you chopped and replaced the rear chassis crossmember, below the doors where the winch will go?
Keen to see photos of your rear bar/winch when you get to that stage! It will give me some ideas for my planned rear bar/winch.

I could never ever afford this hobby at all, if i could not make these things myself.
I think previous owner of this rig has replaced the cross member. Anyway, i´m gonna chop it again. Rear winch is going in between the frame rails. You get the idea of that and why rear door copping, when you look at my old RJ-70. This is going to be about the same.
I made the winch bed today, but didn´t have time to finish it. I made booty fab fairlead of a big rock drill which i had lying around. Should be hard enough.

Great project!
If you get a chance I'd love to see a pic of the battery box from below. I've been struggling with the location of my aux battery and that looks like a fine solution. Unfortunately my exhaust runs though there.

I can take pics tomorrow, but there´s not much to see. It´s just a box made of angle iron and sheet metal. My exhaust runs below the box right now, but i´m gonna route it somewhere else. That won´t be a problem.
One thing. If i write something stupid, let me know. English isn´t my mother language... But i´d like to learn it better.

I was just trying to visualize how close that box is to things like driveshafts, framerails etc. and how far down it drops. I'm sure I could figure it out by laying in the snow with a tape measure but it seems easier (for me) to ask you to take a photo.
Your English is fine. No worries there.
Looking forward to seeing the rig with paint on it.

Painted it. Never painted a car before and guess what. Little bit orange... And i don´t mean the colour. I started painting with a little bit too thick paint. But it´s not that bad. Still have to paint the FRP top, hood and bead lock rings. Orange might be nice for the rings...?
