problem with glow plug relay

Having trouble with the main glow plug relay on the 3b,85 bj70. Makes a clicking sound when the pre heat light would normally come. Any ideas?

Go to an auto electrician. Throw the relay away and put a push button on dash... good for days when you need it and perfect option when you don't

it should click once when the key is turned. if its clicking on and off check the earth is good.(clean tight contact to chassis etc) if that dont fixit then bin it and fit a new one.

What would you do?

So I down loaded a copy of the shop manual. I followed the continuity testing procedure for the main glow relay and found a problem. To make sure, I cleaned the ground and reattached. I still have no continuity at the main red/black terminals on relay when voltage is applied to the fusible link side. I am hesitant to wire up a switch as glow plug burn out becomes a concern and I have a general lack of electrical wiring knowledge. I also like the idea of keeping the vehicle spec. if possible. If anyone has any suggestions please share, as I am a novice with the 3b.
