Help!! Flex Pipe Prado Exhaust

Last august I had a 2.5 inch exhaust installed in my 91 LJ78. Kal tire installed it using flex pipe straight off the Turbo, then going with solid pipe just behind the drivers door. The effect on my engine was great; nice turbo response and about 75 to 100 degree reduction in EGT's.

The problem is that the flexpipe has broken; it's now clear that it stops flexing (probably siezes up) and the engine tears it apart. We are back to square 1.

Anyone know how to handle the flex on this set-up.

Hey how's it going. I have done a 2.5 inch exhaust from the turbo back and it kicks out the drivers rear tire. If you look back on page four under prado exhaust you will see Alex Von Gardan set up. I think the flex pipe is where it should be between the turbo outlet and the bracket mounted to the tranny. He has it all worked out. My set up is almost the same but not as fancy. I use a rubber hanger near the end of the exhaust to handle the vibrations. I use header wrap on the flex and the upper half of the exhaust to keep heat down near the oil filter. Over two years and twenty five thou k's and all is good.
The worlds greatest ebay site for exhaust is www.exhaustdirect.com . They are cheap and in canada and they deal with all sorts of exhaust pipes, flexes, ect..
Good luck.
