That's great! Apparently, it's a 1998 73 series that has been retro'd to look like a 40 series. The rear half is a 73 series with rounded corners and different windows.

The creator of them made a small number and labeled them PX10 or something.

I always loved the px10. I love the front end. The rear not so much but it's ok. The front with the bib and 40 turn signals is a great look on the 70.

Looks like a 70 series to me. All 73/74 have a FRP top (unless it was a soft top) and 10 inches beteen door and rear wheel arch.

I think I read somewhere they made less than 10. Not all are identical.

I think they only made a hand full 10 or maybe 100, it was a concept before, and what the 70 series was base on.

I have taken pictures of cars where the color looks completely uniform to the naked eye but with the camera, different panels appear to have different shades. Maybe the camera picks up the slight differences in reflectivity.

They all do that except the white 70 cruisers. The metalflake paint is even more contrasting from angles.
I think it is the straight panels on the fenders and doors that reflect light different to a fully curved vehicle.

Many times I have looked at my 73 series from the front door and thought it had badly matched paint after some panel work, but up close its all the same.

Pretty cute unit, and definitely more appealing that those FJ things they flog in N. America now. Toyota did "drop the ball" perhaps, though, as the world's number one automaker, they seem to know what they are doing. It's a shame that they never went further than 200 units. I guess all of them would have been RHD?

My first thought after looking at it was: though it's based on a 70 series, the parts availability for the unique bits on the truck is going to be slim indeed (well, can you say "unobtanium"?)

Ah excuse me but Toyota never made them. Handcrafted in the back alley of some Japanese panel and paint shop
