Fender flares/kit for bj-70

I've seen many pictures of fender flares attached to various LJ's and BJ's and it seems like they are OEM. I was wondering if anybody knows the part number or selling or knows of where I can get my hands on a set. Thx!

The problem with the factory ones, especially after 2000 is the hardware to hold them on, some of the hardware fits on the body and the body has mods for this hardware. So even if you get the stock ones you might have to modify your body and fabricate mounts close the the stock ones. I have talked to some friends that have tried it and it can be a real pain.

I have aftermarket flares but the problem with those is they are expensive, much easier to mount but still for flares I think the price is too much.

Just my 2 cents.

Cheers,

Michael

They cause rust in most vehicles. If you just want something to cover wide tyres ,there is wire reinforced rubber flares in 1 and 2 inch widths

THose wire-reinforced rubbers you are talking about - is it is dedicated kits for specific vehicles or do you make it up yourself? Also, how do one attach it. THe ones available here is quite expensive and you have to drill holes ine the fender which will cause rust as you mention.

I have FG flares that are screwed on but no rust. Some liberal coatings of oil and rust prevention chemicals have worked well.

The rust usually starts down the bottom at the rear of the arch where the dirt gets trapped.

The rubber strips are are bought in a roll or by the metre. This is one variety.
Toyota Landcruiser 40 60 80 75 100 Wheel Arch Flares - eBay 4x4 Accessories, Exterior, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 27-May-08 00:05:25 AEST)

The type Ive seen sold by ORE and ARB are the same ,but cut to length and they want $180 a pair.

IMO ,you are better off with nothing, but if you have to do it to stay legal then this is the best
