turbo upgrade for prado

hey guys i have a 1990 prado and was wondering what is a reliable option for upgrading the turbocharger. thus far i have not done a single thing to the engine as far as aftermarket parts but would imagine an intake and exhaust would help with a new turbo. which turbocharger would you guys reccomend to swap? thanks!

I myself have posed the question, no one has replied I guess its up to one of us to take the initiative.

Honestly, people will laugh at me again, but until you have felt the result of a dual sequential turbo set-up like in a Skyline or Rx-7 I think it is the only answer to the best of both worlds, boost early and also boost efficiently at higher rpms. This isn't the first time I've suggested it, but I having limited turbo knowledge it just seems like the answer.

I think there should be a discussion over it, why for and why not. I can think of a reason why not, too complicated and I think engineers are more price point then power hungry, also maybe durability and longevity. Someone said before that diesel engines couldn't put out the exhaust gas energy, put we're comparing a 1.3 13BTT to a 2L-TE, its got to be close.

I've owned both, and currently own an Rx-7 13BTT, and when your in 5 th gear and someone comes up on you, you don't even need to drop a gear just push down on that throttle.

so why wouldn't it be a good choice or alternative.

I have been doing quite a bit of research regarding the turbo as mine is leaking oil right now and I would like an upgrade. Our turbo's have toyota's own exhaust flange which isn't compatable with anything aftermarket that I have been able to find, The only turbo I found that will bolt on a LJ78 is the CT26, used on mr2's, some sites claim the CT26 isn't that great of a turbo either though. I couldn't find anyone who had changed a 2lte turbo. I did find this site Index of turbo adapter dimensions and pictures
Which explains how to make a T3 adapter for a ct26 which is the same as our ct20 exhaust flange, but then you will still need to change the exhaust as the turbo output is also a toyota exclusive.

That is a big help for me!! Thanks RHD toyota's I've called quite a few turbo shops around here and some will rebuild them, but some didn't know anything about the ct20, I called bd-power, they don't advertise toyota on thier site but they do rebuild them for $350-$450 (more if the housing is damaged). The tech I spoke to said the only performance upgrade they can do is possibly put in a larger compressor wheel, but they need it off the truck to see if it will work. And that my oil leak is mostly likely caused by a pressure build-up in the crankcase, so when I get home I'll pull the oil cap while it's running and check for pressure and check the PCV as they suggested, i've called at least 5 other turbo shops none mentioned crankcase pressure.
