Damn, don't know how you are keeping from it. The pickups are awsome. Mine is just about where I want it - maybe only 25,000 more and I will be there.

Oh hell ya, fun putting new stuff in the truck though! Will be ordering up a new R151 tranny and T-case this fall, the H55F won't fit in my truck - so new is the way to go, then add a Safari tuff clutch, new winch motor and solenoid, some new interior bits, Glycol/air intercooler, and a new engine (maybe a rebuild - not sure yet) next year. Oh, and I'll ditch the shit Ols man emu front coils and get some good ones on it. And maybe a 4 inch dump pipe - and maybe a new front end as mine is kinda rotten.
And, at some point I need some Lightforce lights - I don't drive at night, but why not have them? Maybe take up night hunting.

Fun never stops. Don't tell the wife please.

sounds like a good plan ishobie, you need to take a pic of your 79 series and make it your display pic instead ofthat midwheel base troopy looking thing

Why is this? I have heard mechanics say it will fit. TLCruiserman has the 79 with a factory H55f

Hmm, interesting, I'd like to see where the crossmember attaches tot he frame and where it holds the tranny.

The big problem is that the cross member comes in contact with suspension arms as the H55f is shorter than the R151. I am sure it could be modified to fit, but on average I put about 10K kms on my truck a year, so even if I run plutonium and triple superchargers I shouldn't wear the R151 out within the next 10 years - and then I'll just buy another one - or maybe I'll have my dream garage by then with a nice hoist!

As it stands right now my back is so bad I can barely stoop to check the tire pressure let alone fiddle with an H55F retrofit. So no H55F for me now.

We are will be checking out a new local trail soon, supposed to have alot of good obstacles, will let you know.

you are going to leave them Rover POS at home...right? no use bring parts rigs to a cruiser run.

next thing you will stoop to running with fords, chevys, and dodges...shiver

The hard part is finding enough cruisers to go on a run around here, mostly everyone that owns a cruiser has it as a hangar queen or they never have time to wheel.

If I feel like wasting part of an afternoon I go out and watch the local 4x4 club demo their trucks, pretty fun to watch - the suzukis are hilarious.

But if I actually want to finish an actual run from start to finish the only way to do it is with another cruiser.

Moving to OZ sounds great - would love to go there one day and run a winch event - outback or something, always been my dream. There are no really good events in North America for that type of stuff, just merican annoying shitbox truck mud runs and rock crawling, nothing as technical as the winch events you have there in my opinion.

Wayne, sounds good, would be nice to meet up mid way near haliburton or someplace - some pretty rough stuff around there.

Have to watch what I say about rovers - Fromage might be reading

Yah

I just wanted to see how you made out with your harness swap. I pulled the factory harness out of the 99 TDI I parted out last month, and it had a meeelion wires! I was thinking about how difficult it would be to swap out a harness in a Cruiser and hoping that you wouldn't have too much trouble. If you need a hand, you know where to find me (just follow the ducks).

I'm taking a break from wheeling until August sometime because of the shop and stuff, but if you guys plan a trip for mid-to-late august, I would be in. BTW, I FINALLY figured out my T case issue, wrong shim installed for the output shaft preload, which caused the popping out of 4wd issues. Weird.

I'm ignoring Wayne because he's just trying to hurt my feelings

Keep at it Skebo!

Wire harness is installed, pretty easy but just time consuming. I have every ready for the dual battery setup, just waiting for the rain to stop - also working the the new winch mount - just have to remember how to weld:(

There was a new trail mentioned on the OVO site, not far from you - off Panmure road - supposed to be pretty good, will be trying it out as soon as the front diff is installed - if I ever get to it.

If it's not far I can duck out for a couple of hours...

If you want to play with the big welder, I should have it wired by next weekend... You're going to get some use out of that winch mount, make sure it's strong!!

It's 3/8's plate steel, maybe I'll tack it in and finish it up at your place, my arc welder is small. I still have some stuff to do to the winch anyway, vent line, fill and drain plugs etc.

And, you have to make sure that transfer case works well - try it out on some hard shit.

Ok, did some quick work on my winch mount, 3/8's steel welded onto an 8 inch piece of channel, with side supports. Welded it up with my Chinese Arc/TIG/plasma cutter all in one that I bought off ebay - that thing is really awsome. I made the top angular cuts with the plasma, goes through 3/8's like butter.

I still have some trimming to do and I'm going to add a couple of more bars to it in the near future. I still have to add the fill and drain plugs and I'm off to the races.

Ok, so the verdict is in on the injection pump - anyone want o buy a forklift pump??? Won't work, looks the same but the shaft is different and a bunch of other things are different. Oh well nothing ventured nothing gained. And, learning that alot of guys on here are scammers - "I guarentee that will work!" was what I was told when I bought it.

The shut off solenoid is the same though!

If you need a pump rebuild D & M Services in Sask rebuild them for ENS, I am sending mine there this fall.

Regards,

Louis

Ok, finished the winch install, just have to replace the motor and solenoid box when it arrives. I'll be mounting the new Allbright solid state solenoid under the hood so nothing will be exposed.

Here are some pics.

Yours no good?? You can have it - but I want it back if I blow the new one. The new one will take about 8-10 weeks to get here.
