The tires are rubbing on the bottom of the bed - have to either lift the bed or add some longer shackles.

where did you find that truck? i have never actually seen a 7x pickup truck on the road before...i know they use cruisers in some of the mines but....i dont think they can be plated. what kinda coin do the pick ups go for if you can find one (if you dont mind me asking) in any case thats a sweet looking and sounding truck

do a search and you will see a couple others that are still driving the roads today... it isn't you can not register them, it is "how much of a pain do you want to endure to register one".

ARB locker going in the front. The front diff is junked, everything is worn out the diff guy says. Good thing I have a spare R & P from Just Diff's - hope it is the right one.

Will hopefully have it installed on monday.

Entire new wiring harness goes in next week hopefully with an aux fuse block for the the extra's I'm running.

EFS suspension here do a 5" lift for ya 79 series, extended shackles for the back and coil spacers too up front with 4" coils

5 inches of lift is a bit too much for me, If I can get the 2.5 inch OME fronts that have sagged to 1.5 inches out and replaced with some good springs that are 3 inch heavies I would be happy. For the rear I like it with the leafs out - lots of articulation now but will go with air bags if I have time this summer to do them - might add some longer shackles on the rear as well. 3-4 inch lift is max for me.

Any links for parts would be great though!

Of course it is different in other colonies. I was at the lights one day and there were 7 other vehicles ,all 7* series

come on !,imagine how tanked your 79 series would look, it'd give plenty of clearance for those 36's of yours. you could even just get a 4" lift, they make 4" coils

Thats a hellava nice looking cruiser but with big lifts you get to the point where you need to move the front axle forward or they look like roller skates.
With factory rims and tyres,the 5 inch lift is wasted .It also emphasises the roller skate look.

I think Louis has a good plan. 5 inches is a lot of lift for our terrain, which is a lot of off-camber stuff, but it's also slippery, tight with trees, and muddy. There are often conditions that send you skidding sideways down an embankment without too much warning, or other unpredictable situations where a high CG is not a good idea and gives you that funny feeling in your stomach! I have seen this truck at work and with a front locker and 3" lift, it will go anywhere he wants/needs to in Eastern Canada. I would hate to see how this would drive on the highway with a 5 inch spring lift and two snowmobiles on the tray (swaying like a skinny palm tree!).

Just finishing up changing my entire wiring harness - lotsa fun. Also adding an aux fuse block, aux battery, battery selector, and some other cool stuff- pics to come. Oh and a new floor mat, and ARB front locker install.

Thanks to Dave Stedman at Japan4x4 for his supply of OEM parts at sometimes less than half price of the stuff here.

Getting my Warn 8274 winch drum back today, had the drum size reduced to 1.5 inches and had it lengthened 4 inches, should be pulling pretty well now.

Ok, got the drum for my 8274 back, looks great and should put very well. The drum size was reduced from 3 inches to 1.5 inches, we used 1.5 inch solid stock for the retrofit - it won't ever break. The old drum was cut out, surface was machined, jig set up and rewelded.

Over all the drum was lengthened 4 inches as well. We also added 4 inches to the masterpull fairlead.

Are you going to wrap wire rope or synthetic around that? It looks a little tight for wire now.
I forget the rule of thumb for drum size but I think it was around 8 times the diameter of the wire rope.

I'm thinking of sending my new toyota Ring and pinion in to have cryo treated before they are installed in the front diff, any opinions on this? It would be more of an experiment for me than anything - this whole truck is actually.

since it isn't the ring and pinion that dies the painfull death i would pass but the open carrier that breaks so give it a try....

why do you need to? have you seen busted teeth on the front gears? i know they wear faster than the rears (common problem on the 81 series)...or do you feel this might make the gears last longer?

I feel they might last longer. The gears in this truck were completely worn out, when I drained the oil and looked at it in the sunlight it looked like I had panned for gold and struck it rich - shiny flakes everywhere. Now I know it was a mining diff but still it was worn out.

Time is a bit of a factor now though - so I will probably just install it this week and forget about the cryo.

Taking bets - So I bought this injection pump off a guy here, says it was for a 1HZ, I saw pics and figured it was off a 1HZ - but out of a forklift or something like that. It came from a guy who got it up in a mining town so it is industrial. Anyway, I bought this thing a couple of years ago, it is new and looks just like a pump off my truck - but, it is set up to run on the other side of the engine, and there are some other subtle visible differences.

So, I bought it as a gamble at a good price knowing that it might or might not work. I am guessing that it is calibrated differently than my truck - or to deliver different amounts of fuel. I just sent the pump out to a company that rebuilds mine truck pumps every day, the guy is going to check it out and see if it will work, or will need differnt delivery valves or whatever.

Think it will work????
