Front Axle rebuild
After some encouragement from other members who have written up how to do front axle rebuilds I decided to tackle the job this weekend on my 1986 FJ73. I got everything off and this is the knuckle (?) that looks to be in a poor condition.
From the other photos that I have seen the knuckle seems to be in good shiny condition. I have cleaned mine up a bit with some 800 grit sandpaper. Should I be concerned or is this expected from a vehicle of this age? Thanks. __________________ 1986 FJ73 - 350,000+ klm - still going strong http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/b...3/IMG_2579.jpg |

mine is the same, i just painted it with 1 coat of super etch primer and 1 of primer filler, then sanded it back, filled up all the corrosion.
Its very normal for an older car. __________________ Lock, Stomp and Steer, No Fear

Buy the POR15 paint kit clean and paint. The paint will provide a clean rust free very strong surface and it stops the corrosion dead.
