2lt Fuel Consumption

2lt Fuel Consumption
On the average the 2LT on my LJ71, 1987 is giving just 6.25 kilometer toa liter. I think it should give at least 8. Right or wrong?

Also what can be done to improve the consumption?

My LJ 70 before motor swap was about at 10 km to a litre, but it depen by your right foot, the drive condition, and the odometer precision.

somethings wrong

1L - 10 kms or 10L - 100kms roughly. I say this with mixed city/highway driving use.

You are talking the 2lt with roller rockers / black valve cover, non-efi right?

Are you revving high - over 3000rpm will eat fuel. What size tires? big tires = more fuel. Driving in sand? Tire pressures OK?

Start with basic diagnostics, fuel filter, air filter, then do a compression test....

Good luck!

I have a 2LTE in a 92 Prado. I'm getting about 6km per litre city, and about 9 ish Hwy. From what I've gathered this is not so good, I've done the fuel/air filter. I looked into faulty injectors, but there is no black smoke (no sign of poor combustion)? And to get those numbers I was concious about my right foot, with mild 33's tires.

I'll try a compression test, but is there any other ideas? (2lt/2lte)

Thanks, Joel.
