Hi, a friend of mine just bought a FZJ70 carburated. In venezuela they came carburated until year 2000.
He came to me because I have rebuilt a lot of carburators from 2F and 3F and I am very experienced on it. The problem is that the 1fz engines carburated do not have a window on the carburator tank!!, only the 1fz from 1993 has. I am 100% sure he has a flooded carburetor, but i dont know how to perfectly set the float level because there is no window. Of course I can lower a litte the level of it unitil the car runs fine, but that is not the perfect tunning. Has anyone has a manual or knows a technique to set the float level without a glass window on the tank of the carb? Thanks a lot! |

Regardless of the presence of a sight glass, the procedure is to adjust the float to the specified height w/ the carb air horn held inverted.

I found a manual, thanks for the help you all gave to me.
Just for information, the correct way of adjusting it is putting the the top of the carb upside down and the floater has to rest on its own weight and has to be 7mm away from the carb's cap. |
