Rear Bumper 73-74

The rear bumper on the 73-74 is more decoration than useful protection.

What are some clever ways to reinforce it or replace it with something simple and better?

If you're a true Red Green disciple, you'll find a piece of sewer pipe, attach it with duct tape and call it good. Sit down.

I'm a man, I can change, if I have to, I guess.

When mine was reversed into something solid it was the brackets that bent and the bumper was only scratched.

Yup, same here. that's what I meant by the bumper being decorative. I figured that perhaps someone had come up with a clever way to reinforce the assembly and still retain the chrome pieces to keep the unit looking relatively 'stock'.

Sure, I could spend hundreds of dollars to get some name brand replacement bumper shipped to Possum Lake, but that's just not a practical solution.

I havent looked at the brackets lately but my thoughts were if they could be copied with a thicker steel plate or some reinforcement.
And then just bolt the bumper to them. Maybe add some jacking points for a highlift.
