How to identify the production date of a JDM BJ74

Hey there, just flipping through the Toyota service bulletins, and came accros one discussing axle bearings on trucks dated 8/89 and later. Now when i bought my truck i was told it was an 89; HOWEVER how does one discover the month of build, because so far as I know the only identifying feature on these trucks is the ID place in the engine bay, is there some way of cross referencing the serial number?

Check the "tag" on the seatbelts.

Whatever is on the production date on the aluminium plate on the firewall is the "legal" production date and is suitable for all purposes.
