Nope .You get replies if you tell people what engine it currently has. The 75 had a choice of 3 diesels and 2 petrol engines and various engines use different senders.

Although there are some engine swaps on here from petrol to diesel, not many are into putting chev V8 into a 75 series.
It kinda degrades a top 4x4

Some do,some dont . Very few of them are finished to a high standard. I remember the time I went out with friends 20 years ago in 2 HJ45,1 had a 350.
We went for miles and apart from the occasional big sand dune, the 2H went everywhere the chevvy did.
But the 350 was on the verge of overheating all the way and sucked juice like a wino.
You never see V8 petrol swaps in landcruisers in the outback. They hang around the fringes of civilization ,close to the fuel stops and towtrucks
Hardly anyone ever goes down that route twice,a FZJ80 will do anything a V8 swapped cruiser will do.

IMO ,300 HP in a cruiser is a mentality ,not a necessity

In the Outback Challenge ( 2005 and 2006 ) I've seen plenty V8 conversions .. just curious .. I thought more common will see some heavyly modifieds Turbo diesel engines ..

The outback challenge is on the fringes of civilization I meant the the roads and tracks that criss cross Australia west of Ayers Rock. They are the lonely places

After reading the posts and having being out there where Rosco mentions i"m with Rosco.

Any highly modified V6 or V8 conversion I have ever seen in the outback sucks fuel or breaks down.

A TD or a large Toyota Petrol will easily match a V8 for abiity and mey just get there a little slower and a lot cheaper.

A large foreign petrol stuck in a Toyota devalues it too much.

You still didnt' answer what engine is CURRENTLY in your 75 series.
Also, took you forever to state chev v8 (petrol 350ci)... there's also chev diesels.

6.5 chev diesel swaps are extremely popular among the towing guys on the east coast as they just obliterate a 1hdfte for torque/power. v8 petrol cruisers out this way are rare as rocking horse shit..... there are TONS of 1hz converted and 1hz-turboed cruisers though (or both). Gassers are rare. Very very rare in a 70 series. 80/100 all the time with LPG tanks.

Where do you get these snippets of info from? My local classified has 5 x FJ75 for sale and at least 3xFJ73
Back in 84-90 petrol was cheap in oz and they sold heaps of gassers here.
(Then Big Bad Saddam marched into Saudi Arabia and we have been paying more and more for fuel ever since)
