Is that a alloy tray. Im thinking of ditching my old heavy steel one for something lighter. I keep wondering how much extra juice that steel tray uses running around with nothing in it.

Put your details and pics in the registery if you want

Yeah mate thats a alloy tray but i think steal is better less bounce and tends to stick to the road better more weight over the rear axle..But on the other hand it wont rust one less thing for me to worry about.Think about a rainy day going around a round about i have to be very careful.

Do you think i should delete my post and repost in the registery...

Some weight on the axle does give them a nicer ride too but I mainly intend it for camping and it has plenty of weight with fridge and genny and swags and beer and more beer

Later on I want to buy a Trackadata slide on slide off 2 person camper which weighs 660kg

You can only have one pic in the registery so make it your best and biggest.
Read the rules 1st. Leave this post here as I am sure when the mercans and canucks get out of bed they will have a chat too which cant be done in the registery

Hello

Hello to you all and thanks Woody for the warm wlcome.
I live in New Zealand, South Island, Christchurch. I'am a Motor Mechanic with 45yrs in the trade , both petrol and diesel, big and small.
I own two 4WD's , 92 Toyota Surf 2LTE , a daily driver and the odd shiny trip. 87 Toyota FJ70 3F SWB, 35" tyres, F/R ARB diff locks, custom built F/R springs. TJM Front Bar, Self built Rear and Side bars.
Receiver mounted Warn Winch. 96 Prado Front Seats, AM CB, PRS radio, plus all the other bits you collect over years of 4WDing. The 70 is used for hard trips, local competitons, and every chance I get to drive it.
Will have to learn how to navigate this site and then want to catch up with a Mark Wattlee( not sure of the spelling) I believe he Is the man to talk to regarding fully sealed Toyota 3F distributors.

FITZY.

Hi Brownbear!
I took some pics in my garage, it is night now, so the pics are not very nice, but since you want to see it, let go:

By the way, i´m the dealer of ARB in Costa Rica, that´s the reason of the stickers...
Hope you like it, you can see the front coils and also rear leafs; it has a 5 lug 5x150mm bolt patterns, which makes very difficult to get the wheels, the reast of the truck is the same as in 1987, maybe the grill and side markers are different.
regards

Smile G'day

Hi All,
I’ve bought a 2003 troopy with a mere 210k kms and I’d like to thank West Australian taxpayers for the bargain. The previous owners, a local Shire, lavished a heap of accessories on it (some of which may even be useful). They added;
An extra door conversion
Roo bar with side bar extensions to the side steps
Dual batteries
Conversion to 5 seats in the back (3 c/w shoulder belts)
Uprated air conditioning with rear vents
Roof rack with ladder
Replacement rear bumper with twin spare wheel carrier
Uprated rear suspension
Bl00dy black box that makes the lights come on when ignition key is in
Stupid looking exterior sun visor.

I’m looking forward to exploring the info on the site but here’s a question to start me off. Regarding the last item, the front sun visor. It’s a hard thing to describe without a photo (hopefully attached) but I’m sure many of you know the fairly standard thing you see nailed to cars in sunnier parts of the world. It looks to me to be a huge aerodynamic mistake (Not that I bought a troopy for its aerodynamics) but some people have told me that it will not hinder it. Rather it sets up a ‘ball’ of still air over the bonnet and helps push air over the roof (or in my case into the roof rack to further reduce efficiency)

Anyway, that's me - Cheers

Hi CDP .The sunvisor is a Toyota approved accessory for oz,Im not sure if its available elsewhere.
Anyway does it have a gap where the air can get out?
There is some s/steel mesh visors on ebay for $135. I been thinking about one for my 75 series.

Yuo might have to sit on the roof, get it up to mach 1 and feel the airflow with your hand to decide on the aerodynamic efficiency

The rear door conversion is a bonus,it costs $4K+ but never shows up in the auction price.

Im not a fan of the ladders on the side,I would replace it with one of those steps that sit on the tyre.
Did the troopy come from Pickles,it looks like their high standard?

Anyway I think you got a great vehicle and Im sure a lot us will be jealous,Ive always wanted the 3 door converted troopy.

Some more close up pics of the door open showing the seats and that horrible sunvisor would be welcome

What shire was it from?

Ross (NOR)

There is quite a few companis that do this in oz,mainly for the government and mining industry.
4DR is also possible.
