New to Land Cruisers

I need to buy a Land Cruiser in the next couple of months to take to Alaska.
I'm looking for a 1980 through about a 1995 model. Can you tell me the pros or cons of any of those years? What to look for or what to stay away from?
Can you point me in the right direction for some more information?

Thanks, Glenn

$$

I was hoping to stay around $5K but for the right truck, $7.5K.
I'm looking for a daily driver that's reliable. There is the chance that it will be driven in extreme cold temps so a diesel wont do (been there, done that). I won't be using it for any hardcore off-roading. Some backwoods trails and getting to fishing/hunting spots. It might have a canoe or kayak strapped to the top and a small trailer with an ATV in tow. Yes, I do want to be able to carry lots of stuff if necessary.
