So how much is a bulletproof tranny for the Z71? Surely no more than a few grand and you could have something pretty stout and still paid for. Throw a few grand into the engine and you can have some power too. As another option, why not just get an older used F250 or 350? They don't seem to be too bad a tow vehicle either and have been relatively unchanged for several years now. Hell, you can go down to Texas and pick 'em up dirt cheap used and most are just used as commuter vehicles!
