Question Any Interest In One Of These?

Went a little nuts in the shop this week and did a custom dash install for my Uniden 520 CB where that useless cubby beneath the radio used to be.

Wondering if any of you other '60 owners would be interested in a custom, plug-'n-play install kit like the prototype shown below? The kit would fit the Uniden Pro510XL or Pro520 XL CB radios and would include a mounting bracket, faceplate, and installation instructions.

Just trying to gauge interest. Let me know what you think....

How much for a custom install and what material are you using? Need two guages (temp and oil), tired of hitting my knee on the under dash install.

Price is yet to be determined. It will largely depend on the number of units requested and the materials used for production. If the interest in this is high, then I'll source vendors and get some actual quotes. My hope is to make it very accessible.

The proto came out well and the radio sits firmly centered in the opening. The bracket was fabbed out of 20 ga. stainless and hard mounts directly to the same OEM attachment points as the plastic pocket it replaces. The goal was to achieve a clean, could-have-been-a-factory look, while making it as simple to install as screwing/unscrewing the dash hardware.

Thanks for asking. If we get more takers, I'll move forward with this

PM me or post up a pic of what you are dealing with and I'll take a look. I feel your pain....not much room under the '60 dash for long legs (got the bruises to prove it )

The proto above was fabbed out of stainless and acrylic but there are many material options depending on what you are after.

I'll take some pics and PM you, I'm not long legged but still seem to catch the knee, maybe it's just placement.

Thanks!
