| Need Help Quick Supposed to meet the Hoosier Cruisers tomorrow at 10:00 AM to do some wheeling. Does anyone know if the dealerships or say Autozone carries caps and rotors in stock for my 84 FJ60? Mine just took a dump tonight. Thanks.

| Autozone should carry the caps.
Dealerships are a hit and miss. They are available but honestly, most dealerships won't stock them

| South of you... Not experienced in buying parts for the 60's. I am south of you in Frankfort KY. Are there any good Landcruiser mechanics around the Louisville/souther indiana area? |

| You are right. I just called AZ and one store in the city has the cap. None of the stores have a rotor. Guess I will try NAPA first thing in the AM. I need both cap and rotor. My rotor is melted. Thanks.

| Toyman,
Hmmm ... double check your fuel vapor recovery system. A melted rotor/cap is a weird coincidence.
When the fuel vapor recovery systems malfunctions it *may* allow fuel vapor into the dsitributor cap through the vent lines. Starting the truck will give a little *pop* because the vapor in the cap in being ignited by the spinning rotor.
Something to check.
Cheers,
Cahil

While the engine is idling, pull the larger of the 2 vac hoses from the dist. cap, check that the smaller hose that comes from up under the air cleaner is supplying vacuum to the cap, and that the larger hose is supplying a free flow of air to the cap. Don't wait 'till you've got a melted signal generator which is $$$.

| I don't know if you have Bumper to Bumper auto parts stores where you are, but every single time i go there to get something for my cruiser they always have it in stock. It is awesome. I just got a new cap and rotor last week there -a grand total of about 15 bucks- they also had shocks and a cat converter in stock as well. but yeah if you have one around hit it up and they probably have what you need.
__________________ Sadly, I sold the cruiser...now I drive a volvo 960 station wagon. Definately not as rad as the cruiser, but it gets over 25mpg, has an I6, and a locking rear diff! I'm sure i'll have another cruiser more sooner than later. |
