does any one know what would cause a cruiser to start shaking like you have a blowout, when you hit a pothole in the road? When I pulled over and got out to look at it I couldn'r see any thing wrong so I drove a way's and everything seened fine, then a month later my wife was going down the same stretch of road and the same thing happened. anybody have a idea?????????????

Death wobble..

Start looking at all of your steering links, spring bushings, wheel bearings, etc..

It is s omething in the front end that ia loose

Mace, death wobble is on 2 wheels, no? Kinda worse than a tank-slapper?

Do you have play in the steering wheel? If no then I would go with the shocks. End links go pretty often too. I replaced mine but I had about 1.5" of wheel play. Maybe spring bushings are worn aswell? Good luck. I think there is cruizer tech guy in Missoula if you don't want to do it yourself. Not sure of his name though.

Death wobble is when the steering wheel shakes uncontrollably.

It is very scary in a truck. And generally means something is loose in the front end. Generally bad shocks will mask the issues but it is not caused by bad shocks.

Nor is a good solution to it a new steering stabilizer.

I know what it is!!!!

I am a technician at a Mercedes dealership, mercedes have a similar steering setup to a landcruiser ie not rack and pinion. Anyway on the steering setup there is a shock which commonly goes bad on the benzs causing exactly what you just described. You hit a bump and the wheel starts to shake, the shaking will not stop until the truck stops. when you start off again, the wheel will be fine until you hit another bump in the road.

The good news it is a very cheap easy fix. If this doesn't solve your problem, you are out less than $50, $100 installed.

Tighten eveything...u-bolts, shackels, wheel bearings, etc.

Worn tie rod ends will allow the tierod/draglink/relay rod to twist. It sounds weird, but jack up the front end and twist the tierod. You will see the wheel and tires turn left/right.

death wobble usually happens at 35mph for some strange reason.

Could be a bent rim or unbalanced tire as well
