Luis Fernandez has been helping me and he's an honest nice and so far inexpensive mechanic. I am using him currently for a few things.
B&R Foreign Car Repair
Somewhere on Commercial Lane, next to "The Wizard"
South Miami, FL

Gary and his brother and all the folks are really nice, been there 25 years. They do good work, they are reliable. Not inexpensive at all. But if you need it done and done right they haven't done my family wrong with a Volkswagen, Volvo, Toyota LC FJ60, Toyota Corolla and a few others.

In California I've had good experience with Man-A-Fre, they did a great job installing my suspension, bumper, winch, and some other stuff.
Gary Kardum (Mudrak) has spent a bunch of time on the phone answering questions for me, and more time chatting with me in person, despite the fact that I've never been able to give him any business (yet).
For Body work in San Diego, California there is nobody I would recommend more enthusiastically than Joel DeLara at Eurotek - take a look at www.sandcruiser.com/spons.html for his address.
While I'm at it- Mike at RockSolid in Hemet, CA treated us well. The bumper he made for us is too stout if anything, but I asked for indestructible and he delivered. He also let us use his yard for some modifcations and that was critical for our situation at the time, not everyone is that nice.

I used to work for Jewell Bohannan at Bohannans Offroad. That guy is sharp. He has been into Cruisers since the 70s.
He is in Bentonville Arkansas.

In Southwest Oregon (Medford, Ashland, Grants Pass) I recommend Specialized Foreign Car Service: 541-776-2922. DO NOT go to Lithia.

jmarsh, Lokey Cross Lander of Tampa. They do a lot of Land Rover stuff but are equally adept at LC's. Ask for Jeremy. He's a Toyota guy.

A great mechanic with any vehicle. He has done enough on my 83 to know cruisers well. Totally trustworthy and very meticulous.

Another Mechanic in Denver
Rocky Mountain Cruisers in Denver Colorado.
What a sight to pull into this guy's shop to see a dozen Cruisers and nothing else! Ron and his son own RMC and know everything there is to know. I dropped my baby off to them with nary a worry.
Can't wait to get it back next week.

Hands down - the only person I will let touch my truck. Robbie was the head Mechanic at a very well known and respected Cruiser Specialist here in CO for a long tim. I won't say where, but "those in the know - know Robbie". Here's how to get in touch with him.

How about Southwest Florida (Naples/BonitaSprings/Ft Myers/Everglades City)? Could use a good mechanic or even someone with more testing equipment than me (I have close to none).

I am removing my mechanic recommendation for the Charleston/ Mount Pleasant area due to repeated lack of satisfaction in resolving multiple problems on my truck.

In Waltham/Watertown, Massachusetts, look up Newton Street Auto. While not at all a Cruiser shop per se, the owner and his men can fix anything - they are knowledgeable, no pressure and great guys. I used to bring my SWEET '90 VW Jetta GLi as well as my 4Runner to them. Bring 'em a 6 of Heineken once in a while too. Not sure if they even drink but nice gesture

Good for Carbs...
MK Automtive
Center Street, exactly across from Utah County DMV
Provo, UT
There is a man there who is INCREDIBLE with carbs, and tuning and tweaking, got my 85 FJ60 to pass emissions and run like a champ, he knows how to adjust your carb.

In Kentuckiana area.... Not a Cruiser specific mechanic but is an import specialist. He owns his own shop, and has built VW race motors for me, worked on a BMW e34 that I owned, and turned wrenches on the 40 that I just sold. Never had to take anything back that he did EVER.
Shop Name: The Winning Formula
Owner/Mechanic: Mike Weinbrener
Location: Buechal Bank in Louisville Kentucky
