Hey Greg,
I have used Import Auto Technicians up near Liberty Toyota. Jimmy knows the Cruisers pretty good. I had them R&R my engine after having it rebuilt down in Golden.
I live near Monument also and am looking for someone closer.
If you find someone let me know. And I'll do the same.

Eric

ACC in Atlanta

I had always heard these guys were great, but, wow, after going to them myself, I would highly, highly, highly recommend anyone in the Atlanta area to the boys at ACC -- they have done an absolutely incredible job on my FJ60, are super knowledgable, down-to-Earth, etc.

Anybody know of a decent cruiser mech in one of the 5 boroughs of NYC? There seems to be a major shortage of these.

The closest I know of is in New Hampshire (Cruiser Solutions).

Ever since I had Georg work on my 60 it has been running the best ever. He has a way of massaging new life into it. The sixty must feel the Cruiser Love through the wrenches. Dude knows his $#!%.

Jose Rivera (Metro Land Cruisers)

Worth the trip to Jersey

Jose clearly knows cruisers, is honest, fast, and thorough, with reasonable rates.

Radd Cruisers

Hi all,

Have heard great things about Radd Cruisers on Vancouver Island. They are located in Duncan, and specialize in repair, customization and import of Cruisers. I've heard good things and the owner John was super helpful as I was searching for mine, even though every time I go in he is running around like mad with two different cordless phones, usually having one guy on hold. Very friendly and helpful. Customization and Restoration Professionals - Services For Restoring 4x4s - RADD Cruisers, Duncan BC

Capo valley Auto
Ray
(757)493-7708
33032 Calle Aviador, San Juan Cpstrno, CA,

Ray has done most of the work on my 60. H55, Carb rebuild, partial desmog Virgina Fj60 so I can get away with that in CA. He has also worked on my 77 Fj40.
I think he charges a fair wage for honest work.

Near Chattanooga I can strongly recommend Import Support. They aren't solely a Toyota shop, but they are probably 90% Toyota. Lots of experience, good attitude, eager to work with you. Usually several 4Runners, pickups and an occasional Cruiser for sale. I trust them completely. They've saved me a ton of money on several occasions.

Here is one you DO NOT want to use in the SF Bay Area:

4 Wheel Drive Specialties
Arnold industrial Road
Concord Calif.

Hired them to install locker and gears. All I got was leaks from damaged axles seals front and back - with new seals. Returned for them to fix and was told that my axle shaft was likely worn (BS!!!). Made repairs myself: seals were slammed in and extruded. In short they screwed it up by being in a hurry and not caring. He also told me that Cruisers were junk and that Jeeps were preferable.....and THAT ain't right!!!

Anybody know a good place to have a 3rd rebuilt in the Austin area, preferably south side of town? Krawltex moved north. All my tools are buried in storage. Thanks

Definitely one of the best mechanics in the area.

Lyle at AutoTranz in Boise, Idaho worked for AMCO Transmission for over 20 years. He was also the highest certified transmission mechanic in Idaho. He now has his own shop and handles all my transmission and all other mechanic work. Lyle is honest, reasonable and competent which is difficult to find now days. He can be reached at 208-344-5539.

I don't know if you found your mechanic yet but I recommend Lyle at AutoTranz in Boise if you have further need. 208-344-5539. Good Luck!
