Fj62 transmission issue

I'm going to look at a 62 this weekend and the transmission apparently wont engage reverse gear. I'm assuming this signals the end of the line for the tranny. Anyone have suggestions for a possible short term fix so I could get it home, less than a 10 mile trip. I know used autos can be found for cheap so I'll probably just swap it when I find one. It was supposedly an arizona truck until july of 2008 and the owner says it is rust free, any sneaky areas I should be looking for rust? Thanks in advance.
