drivetrain Q's for 5.7L 700r4 fj62

Just put brand new 4:56s in. when shifting from Park to drive the rear drive shaft spins 3-4 times before "hooking up". Then when going from drive to park, the vehicle rolls about three feet!
So I pushed the vehicle in park and the drive shaft does not spin.
in 4wd all seems very tight.
The ring and pinion was good when installed.
what would make this happen
Enjoy your day

Have you witnessed the ds spinning?? Or is that just what it "feels" like?

It sounds like the pinion or ring gear have issues. Pull the diff cover and take a gander.

What did the pattern look like when you put it back together? Crush sleeve?

Yes, I saw the ds spin. I can feel it spin when downshifting.
You are right, I guess I will take the cover back off and check it in.
The pattern looked good to me, but I am a novice with that.
The previous diff with powertrax locker and 4:11 did same.
