Problems finding a Tow Hitch...
I am looking for a class 4 or 5 Tow hitch for my 1988 FJ62. I can not find one anywhere... Do any of you have one on your truck? What are my options? Thanks guys...

I am running this hitch.
1989*Toyota*Land Cruiser*Draw-Tite, Reese, Hidden Hitch, Valley and Curt search with the*Hitch Hunter by etrailer.com (800) 298-8924
Its a class 3.
a class 4 is usually rated for 10,000 lbs. Thats alot to have to stop in a cruiser!!
I have no doubts it will pull it...however stopping it is a whole nother story.
I think a class 3 would be fine ...but you know what YOU want.

Make one. The hitches that have the cross bar at the same level as the receiver tube sacrifice too much ground clearance. Mine had one when I bought it, but it is a simple affair with only the receiver tube hanging just below the bumper, the rest is tucked up high and out of sight. I put the wiring plug in the center of the bumper so it wouldn't get mangled.

Johnny C-
Do you have any pics of that U-Haul hitch? The price is decent, but I don't want to buy one without seeing what it looks like first. Also, did they have to cut, drill, or remove anything to install it?

It uses the 4 factory holes, two of which are where the factory tow hook is, two same spot the other side, and one forward of each of those locations on the frame that you have to drill yourself. Here are the best pics I have of it. If you want more, let me know.

That works. Thanks.
From the pics, and your mounting description, it sounds almost identical to the Draw-Tite 75025.

X2. I'm running stock and saggy suspension with a U-Haul hitch and clearance sucks! A lift would help (when I can afford it), and a custom bumper will help even more (when I can afford it) .

Uhaul hitch photos - Installed on 84 FJ60
Just finished installing, and as mentioned, its 4 bolts to original frame, and 2 to drill. My local Uhaul guys must hate me, and will probably turn away any further FJ60's in the future for the amount of time it took to drill those two holes.
I took care to mention it was made of unobtanium (steel, for those who only have new cars) but it took close to an hour, 2 drill bits, and the eventual use of a steel spike and 3lb sledge to make those two holes.
The inside frame member that you or your trusty minion will have to drill through is two layers of steel. For some reason, the top layer simply kept rising higher, and the drill bit couldn't bite.
Once done, its a simple bolt in. Uhaul has both the hitch and wiring kit (cause we have amber 3 bulb brake lights, they steered me to a electronic kit rather than just plain wire) that cost me under $20.00.
You can see where it is right under the frame member, and its actually not any lower than the standard tire, though for the off-road folks it will change your angle of departure....YMMV.
This unit came off of an 86 FJ60 at my local pick-n-pull yard, and with the exception of the two holes, was completely within my DIY install capability. My rig is an 84 FJ60, so I expect the hitch is the same for all FJ60's, though not sure if it would/would not fit an FJ62 series as easily.

Draw Tite makes the hitch for U-Haul and then Uhaul slaps their sticker on it, model numbers are even the same on Uhaul.com

SOR sells a hitch that bolts on as outlined above (factory holes, and drill holes). If I recall correctly it was half the price of the U-Haul / Draw-Tite, but it was rated lower. As I only use it for a hitch mounted bike rack I mounted with factory holes and skipped the drilling..
