Is there a way to bench service fuel injectors on a 62?

I dont want to sound totally stupid here but I have made some real bone headed mistakes today, and I need some help.

My 62 has had an idle stumble since I bought it. I have done all of the reccomendations regarding plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter,FPR, fuel pulsation dampener, valve cover gasket, fuel cap, brake booster, new hoses, ..... and nothing has worked. Since the first FPR I bought was after market, I decided because so many other guys have sworn by the improvment that the FPR made, I went and ordered an OEM FPR from Dan.

Here is where the bone headed moves began. Today, installing the OEM FPR I over wrenched the bolt and broke it off in the fuel rail (or fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly as the parts diagram calls it). Then to make myself feel even dumber, trying to drill out the bolt I got over zealous and drilled all the way into the fuel rail, at this point I am an official idiot! But I know enough to expect that metal shaving got in to the rail and it has to be replaced.

So now I have located and ordered the replacement rail and it has me thinking, While I have so much unbolted to get to the fuel rail, I might as well have a look at the injectors, I am not really interested in spending the $800+ to replace all 6 with new OEM, so does anybody have advice on a way to test and bench serving/clean the ones I have for better performance?

If not has anybody had any luck with the Python or Beck/Arnley remanufactured ones? Rock Auto has them for like $30 a piece. I will gladly take advice from the 3FE experts out there- I am defeated today.

Thanks in advance guys.

Don't buy new or refurbished ones. Send yours in for a cleaning. Here is a thread about it:

x2 I just recently had mine done. I believe cost was around $17 apiece. That includes replacing filters, pintle caps, o-rings, grommets, and seals as well as resistance check, spray pattern, static flow, pulsed flow tests and injector balance. I also sent in the cold start injector at the same time. total cost $127. Much more reasonable than all new injectors. Hope things go better for ya putting it all back together.

When I rebuilt my 88 3FE I had my injectors cleaned and balanced at Witch Hunter. Sent them out on Monday and had them beack by Friday. They did a great job for a reasonable price... was between $15 to $20 a pieces a year-and-a-half ago.
