62 Purchase

New here, actually my first post.

I am lusting for a 62 for sale locally. 197k, damaged driver side rear door, new rear shocks, new exhaust, new starter, 3F E, drives like the truck that it should. Three owners. Very little rust on the body and only surface rust on the frame. Is $3200 a fair price knowing that baseline and some mods are needed?

Thanks

What year?

Sounds a little high to me considering the current market for these trucks.

If the rust is as you say and the damaged door not too bad, that's probably a fair price. But check VERY close for rust - a-pillars, gutters, quarter panels rear cross-member and c-channel. If you can find some Mudders close, I recommend introducing yourself and asking them to take a look. An experienced eye can save you a lot of headache!

Good luck and welcome to Mud!

Butt

You could have a look through here to get an idea of prices these are (and aren't) going for lately: http://forum.ih8mud.com/vehicles-trailers-sale-wanted/

Sorry bout the year omission. It is a 1990. White and has new rubber on after market wheels. Original wheels with street tires included.

thanks for the feedback so far

Wow, look at all the expensive **** in your sig line. Perhaps you should make the damned thing run, reliably, before dragging it thru an offroad catalog with a magnet attached! After all the work it took to install all that, I'd thinhk a couple of water leaks should be minor! ~TEXX (IH8MUD member) 10/09

Wow $3200 for 200k on the odometer. The motor might be in fair shape if it has had all the proper maintance, but really need to look into the transimission. I say the price is to high, but look in the classified section on here like RockDoc said, probably find a better truck for about the same money.

What should I look for on the transmission. Fluid is clear and shifting appears to be where it should be. I used to have a 93 LC 80 that had a bad drive train, which gave me a bad taste for LCs for a while. But you can never get over the addiction....
