What the heck is up with this steering stabilizer?

Im in the middle of doing a front end alignment via the post in FAQ. I loosened the tie rod clamps but there is a steering stabilizer mounted to the tie rod and the axle by a U-bolt preventing me from turning the tie rod to set the toe in. According to my fsm and this image from SOR this stabilizer shouldnt be there. Let me know what you guys think and what I should do.

12 being the tie rod.

I don't get it, it's an aftermarket steering damper. Loosen the u-bolts, do your tie rod adjustments, tighten the u-bolts back up. Done!

I guarantee it was added at the same time as the shackles when the truck started wandering because of insuficient castor.

Third.

Throw the yellow one out. Check the original one for proper function. Replace if necessary. I sure think one stabilizer, in the stock location, is sufficient.

(BTW, the SOR image is from a 40 series!)

That yellow one is probably doing more for you than the stocker. That is the corect location for a stabilizer, not on the drag link where Toyota put it. If you toss one, toss the stocker. It's most likely dead anyway.

They put them on the tie rod on the LA Mini's too. I dunno.... I see the argument for on the tie rod (& it is a good one) but for something on 33's or less I don't see it being worth the effort to move it. At 35's I'd move it, just because.
