Need help finding VSS for GPS Navi

Hey guys I am installing an eclipse avn in my 1989 FJ62 and one of the things I need is to tap the speed sensor to make the gps work. I have done some searches and it seems the vss is behind the gauge cluster. Do I just tap the wire at the cluster to get my signal?

I am sure someone has done this before.

Also I need to tap the reverse switch wire to turn on my backup camera. Does anyone know where I can find that one?

Any help would be great thanks!

By the way the Eclipse avn2454 just plugged right into my factory harness and fits perfect!

I don't understand why you need a speed sensor for the GPS. It should calculate its own speed by satalite signals. Regarding the reverse, I'm sure a more knowledgable Mud member may know, but if all else fails you could always tap into the reverse light wires in back.

don't follow the need for the VSS either? My tom-tom does everything from the Sat signal data.

If you are going to have a back up camera...why not just use a toggle switch? I don't know the exact wire but...a test light would help you find it in about 10 min or so. Key on, put in reverse...use test light to see which wire hot back at the rear turn signal wiring.

Eclipse doesnt offer any help with install. The model I have is from 2005 and requires a speed sensor. I suppose newer models might not need this connection. I guess the way it works is the gps picks up a signal from time to time to make sure you are in the right spot. The speed sensor monitors how fast you are going and coordinates that with the compass direction you are heading and the gps coordinates to figure out exactly where you are. Thats the best I can figure out.

4 year is the ice age in computer and technolgy years. What is so special about this thing that a $99 Garmin from WorstBuy would not out-perform?

I have a back up camera in my 100 and I think the idea of a toggle switch is a good one. The reason is there are a lot of times when you want to see behind you that you don't want to be in reverse. Especially if you pull a trailer.

On VSS, I'm lazy and I'd probably go down right to VSS on the TC and hook in there. That would be a lot easier to wire. Pulling the dash and sorting wires is a nightmare.

Well I dont want to argue about why I put this system in I was just looking for some help to wire it correctly. I think if I tap the vss in back of the speedo it should work.
