I just wanna know who is anal enough to put their carpet kit on the wall....

(BTW, dig the 45LV behind it. that green/white color scheme is pretty telling[hint hint].. and most likely a 40 series outside.. I can't tell if that is a taco or what behind the 40, could be a chevy)

The grey/silver 62 belongs to esh on the forum (I think that is his username, Ken Eshelby) It is a Hannibal IIRC, drop him a line.

Ok this sucks, spent a few hours on the phone today trying to track down a rack. No luck!!! Supposedly, no one in the US is selling the Hannibal product and Slee offroad has discontinued the African outback line of racks. I am waiting on a callback from TLC

I want a Full size rack, made from Aluminum, Rigid...
Not a mini lightweight VW rack.

HELP!!! Any suggestions?

Yup, keep me posted as well. I was just talking to my neighbor about building a custom rack...aluminum would be cool, but don't have the know-how to weld aluminum...yet.

Yea, Im really getting frustrated with this rack search. Been looking on the net for a few days now for one I like...Leave it to me to pick the ones that are either not available any more or just the most expensive rack out there...typical...

Anyone use these guys?

Roof Racks - Aluminess Products, Inc

Looks like they have several options and might possibly do a custom rack.

TLC, Emailed me back the rack on the white cruiser is the Hanibal. They said that they are no longer importing that rack and as far as they know, the rack manufacturer has discontinued making racks for the 60 series cruisers...(If anyone could prove this wrong or knows where I can still get one, Even used Please let me know...)

Anyway, they said the only brand Aluminum rack they can offer me that is even similar is the Aluminum ARB Rack.

So I am still on the hunt for a Rack. Like one of these.

PS This site may be an option...http://www.aluminess.com/roof-racks.htm

Got word back from Tyler @ aluminess...not sure If I want to drop that kind of $$ on a rack, but may be an option.

Here's his email:

That rack looks like something we could do fairly easily-- we already make a rain gutter-mounted roof rack, so making one for this application would just be a matter of getting a Land Cruiser in the shop to take some measurements. The owner of Aluminess, Dave, is the person who will give the OK for this project, but the deciding factors will be wether or not we can get a truck in our shop in San Diego to take measurements, and how many people would be interested in buying one. Dave is out of town, but will be back tomorrow; He will also be able to discuss a group discount with you guys.
In terms of the racks themselves, all of our racks are lightweight, high-strength 6061 Aluminum construction, hand made in our shop here in San Diego. We have have several flooring options including the regular slats, expanded metal (grate), and solid diamond tread plate flooring (a lot of photographers like this option so they can post up on the rack and take pictures from up there). We also make fixtures for standard size solar panels, and have done custom racks for just about any other thing that somone would want to put on their roof.
As listed on our website, the basic frame of the roof rack costs $1,395, and flooring options start at $400, so a fully outfitted roof rack can cost $1,800-$2,000.
If you are interested, please email us back or call the office tomorrow to speak with Dave and we can get the ball rolling on this.

That is a lot of money!!! Sounds like you could have close to 2500 in it by the time it is said and done. The ARB seams like a lot more affordable option.

I have an all aluminum ARB rack. Look into them. Iron Pig got me mine. Way better rack than the original ARB.

Yo Bruiser...did you find any other options yet?

I was thinking about getting some prices for the material to build my own, but have been too busy at work to do anything yet.

Try these guys...as I have been talking with them about rack for my 60. They told me I can buy lockable Yakima towers...then give them the dimensions between the towers I want and they will set up the rack to mount directly to the towers however I request it at no extra charge. Just give them dimensions of rack I want and they will hook it up. These are the racks unpainted but not bad price I thought for a custom rack and appears to be outstanding quality.

I was going to suggest what Slee sells, but it appears they don't offer it for a 60 (or 80 now?). Anyways, I got the Hannibal from Mudrak (he got out because he was miserable dealing with the US distributers, like everyone else).

Technically the biggest strengths are the extruded aluminum planks for flooring (Slee's and maybe new Hannibals have a slot down the center to locate attachments), the removable rear section and the rail that runs the length of the rain gutter to distribute weight evenly.

Great racks, just hard to find. Their awnings and tents are top notch as well.
