Opinion on engine support...

...while doing a tranny swap.

Pulling the 5 speed from the 60 I may be "klunking for cash" (pretty bad frame rot) and putting it into my other 4 speed 60.

Only one vehicle in the garage at a time...so my plan is to pull the 5 speed and man-handle the "trannyless" truck to the curb. Once I get the 5 speed installed, I'll have the old 4 speed to put back in to the "trannyless" truck.

Question/opinion - conventional opinion seems to be that when a tranny is pulled, the engine has to be supported. Any harm in not supporting while transiting the vehicle to the curb. I would jack and block under the oil pan once at the curb. The other thought was to ratchet strap the rear end of the engine if necessary, then remove (to secure hood) once curbside and appropriately blocked.

Majority rules...

Dave
