Fix for choke light going on?

My choke light on my FJ60 now goes on periodically when driving.

It's like the choke handle must almost imperceptibly move outward just enough to get the light to go on because when I give a little nudge it goes off again.

This gets very annoying during a drive of any significant duration.

Anyone else have this happen?

Any fix/adjustment to stop this?

TIA

Maybe your cable housing is a little bound up or the housing is clamped on the wrong position. Check the routing of the cable housing to make sure it's not making a tight turns. If you loosen the housing clamp on the carburetor and move the housing a bit away from the carburetor, this should effective shorten the cable, making it tigher. I think this would be the direction to move it to correct your problem.

It could also be a problem in the switch that turns on the light. I assume this switch must be integrated into the knob end of the assembly, but I don't know how that works.

Some good items to check. I'm all over it this weekend!

I do believe the switch is integrated into the assembly, but will check. If it is a switch issue then I may just have to "fix" the problem with a bit of tape over the light

I took my cable out and used some graphite cable lube (for bicycles and such from NAPA) on it by dripping it into the carburetor side and working the cable several times. It helped the problem, but I eventually replaced the cable with a new one anyways. You can take the switch/knob side apart and clean up the contacts. That might help keep it from sticking as well.

mine stays on all the time. annoyed the hell out of me for a while but now i'm used to it. my issue is due to a stretched choke cable. two fixes, neither of which i've done yet, are replace the cable with a new one or clip the carb end off and drill a small hole in the brass fitting and put a screw in to hold the cable in place.
