Looking at a 1989 FJ62
I'm normally on the 40 site, but am thinking about a 62 for sale. It has 170k and looks to be stock as far as I can see. Original paint and is a one owner vehicle. I haven't gone to see it yet but wondered what yall thought about pricing? It's listed for 6k.
Here's a couple of pics. What do yall think? Thanks!

The truck itself looks great. Nice body and color.
Not a big fan of those rims though. A minitruck I bought had them and I literally had to beat them off from the inside bead with a sledge hammer on the fronts. Not to mention it is near impossible to get a socket to the nuts! The aluminum corrodes and fuses to the hubs.

6K is too much, for sure. 4K sounds ok.

A couple of questions for you to ask:
1. Has the tranny been serviced /rebuilt - if not you're looking at a possible $2k rebuild as the seem to go out between 150k and 200k miles (ours went at 165k)
2. Check for rust on all the body panels and then get a step ladder and check the seems in the gutters to see if seam sealant has been replaced. Look for staining on the head liner at the A pillars = leak from gutters.
3. Drive line clunks/clanks. Does it go into 4WD. If not the T/C solenoid could be bad OEM is $300
$6k for a midwestern truck seems on the high side - but if it's realy clean and is calling your name well then...
Good Luck

I'd be suspicious of anyone that has tires mounted with the white letters showing on one of these rigs.
.....and you can bet that you will be facing a couple of thousand dollars in maintenance issues; be it brakes, radiator, front end, etc, so price that into the equation.

White's out = awesome.
Have a local Toyota/import mechanic check it out, $120 is worth the info and piece of mind. Do not go to the dealership, they don't know anything about pre-2000 rigs.
and don't buy it for more than 4k, even if it checks out.

Hey everyone - thanks for your input. Sadly it sold before I got a chance to go drive it. I'll keep looking for a nice 62.

Oh, nevermind I looked it up on the internets, it stands for "Kanadian Mile." Luckily mines got zero KM's cuz I avoid Kanada at all kosts.
You'll find another don't worry, buyers market. Wait for a rust free 130,000 American miler, for $3,000. Time is your friend.
