3rd row seats, '84 FJ60

I want to put a third row bench seat from a 93 Astro Van in my FJ60 for the drive through Mexico, Central America. (More room for hitchhikers.)

Has anyone ever put a 3rd row in for the extra hauling capacity?

If so, any good tips, things to watch out for?

If you have the standard roof then head clearance can be a bit of an issue. The third row seats were usually only an option in the high roof models (they were called Sahara's over here) so you might want to sit in the back and check first.

In truth it is because I needed two extra slots for kids. But thanks. I haven't bought the seat yet, but need to set it in a take a look at it.

Thanks

I have a 85 60 with 3rd row seating. There is 4 threaded holes under the carpet for this seat. I made some wing nuts for easy in and out removal of the seat when not in use. Your legs lay flat but there is head room for the kiddies. I also have a set of seat belts for the 3rd roww that are attatched to the 2nd row seating bealts too.
hope this helps

Wow, look at all the expensive **** in your sig line. Perhaps you should make the damned thing run, reliably, before dragging it thru an offroad catalog with a magnet attached! After all the work it took to install all that, I'd thinhk a couple of water leaks should be minor! ~TEXX (IH8MUD member) 10/09

Do you have pics of your setup? What seat did you use? I have owned 2 FJ80's and my wife loved the 3rd row seat. I just got her a fj62 and the 3rd row is her only complaint. I thought I might be able to make something work.
