Battery Cables
I just changed the battery in my 60 and noticed that both cables / clamps are pretty
worn and frayed. I checked out SOR and their replacement cables seem pretty pricey.
Any reason I can't purchase replacements from a local auto parts store for 1/4 of the
price? Not sure of the lengths.
Anyone out there replace theirs recently?
Thanks - Marc

Nope, take your old wires there and hand them to the guy and say you want em' this big. (or add two inches if you want a little bit more to work with etc.)

If you want some really nice ones that are still cheaper than OEM, try:

Before Urban Land Cruisers had their kit, I made my own on a sunny Saturday. Got all the materials from West Marine, got a cheapo heat gun from Harbor Freight (which has since paid for itself many times over, I use shrink tubing on ALL my electrical connections), the shrink-tubing with the glue inside, a HD crimping tool, nice quality marine connectors, and made the cables a bit longer. Took the old ones out, used them as templates. Nothing to it, worked fantastic.

I like the ones you can but from any car audio place (The battery clamps). They look great and they are very durable. it is not hard to make your own anyway.

I just did it too - I went to West Marine and bought the cables and the connestors with a Bernz -o- matic and soldered everything toghether - I'm not mechanically inclined as it turns out - but anyone can do this - plus you end up saving some $$.
