Goin Diesel!
Got my drive train bolted together and ready to drop in.
Pretty damn heavy. This setup sure tests the limits of my engine hoist.
I'll probably have to get stronger front leaf springs. for sure.
.
Got a lead on a Banks turbo setup for cheap. I'll have to do some measuring to see if it will fit.

Good for you! I am interseted in your results; the 6.2 is the way I'd really like to go in my 60 at some point too when my 2f expires or when cash and my experience gets further along. (I envy the fact thst you have all that stuff there to do that too!).

Check out Andre's website on diesel 'Cruisers. There's a writeup on someone who did that. The Cummins requires a significant lift to make the engine fit. It's a great engine, I'm just not too sure it's a real easy project to get into a 'Cruiser.

when you figure this out i'd be very interested to know what the story is, i doubt i'm the only one. swaping in a diesel is on my list of "nice, but it'll probably never happen"

well so far Heres what Iv got: I talked with a guy who lives in the bay area and hes on pirate fo heres what Ive got so far;
"I have yet to go to the referee... but I called them and they said "no problem". Then, one of my cruiser buddies said that _his_ guy said "no way jose"... so I called my local referee back again... and the guy said no problem. This time, i found the referee station he runs and his name so when i call for an appointment, i can go to him.
Now, usually with motor swaps they want a motor as new, or newer then the vehicle. I have a 1985 FJ60, and a 1987 engine. I'm set.
But, you might have problems. Not only do you have a "newer" 60, but you also have an automatic. You _might_ be able to use an adapter from "Marks Australia" to mate the 6A to your auto (as they make one to mate to a chevy 350, which is what the back of your 6A looks like)... except that you would need a custom flex plate."

Sorry for the thread hijack, I also have a 6.2 with a banks turbo and it is a 3/4 ton truck and it hauls! I love that combo it never smokes either.

SS Storm, Good to see your post that you're happy with the Banks.. I was kind of skeptical about putting the Banks kit on at first because I read some threads on one of the diesel bulletin boards about heads cracking between the valves after they put the turbo on. But I searched more and seems to be many satisfied people that haven't had any problems.
.
I just called the guy that is selling the Banks. He says he bought the Banks kit only a year ago, wants $700 for it and the running 87 Chevy shortbed truck it's in also. Can't pass the deal up, so i guess I'll go for it. Nothing wrong with having a spare engine too.
.
I 'm gussing this engine, tranny & transfer case weighs about 1,100 lbs. Just a guess.
Keep us posted on the Cummins install!
