Clutch issues part 2
LAst time I posted that the cliutch started to feel "weire" - grabbing higher, soft pedal, etc... btw, all of this happend wile driving all of the sudden...
Suggestions were: Clutch master cylinder - look for leaks down the fire wall. Well, there are no leaks at the fire wall, and doesn't look like the slave is leaking. So I imagine that rules that out.
Brought it to a local guy...first thing he said was that I needed to adjust the linkage to the pedal cause there was too much play. No problem - second thing he said was that the fluid looked like crap...ummmm, okay. Thirsd, there was air in the line - how he could tell is up to me -
Now, it would appear as though I have to bleed out all of the old fluid and bleed the air out of the line. Problem is, I have no idea how to do this. Fact is, I'm not even sure where to start....
Little help????

Its easy:
On the slave there is an 8mm or 10mm bleeder screw. Get a lenght of rubber hose and a bottle. Attatch hose to the bleeder then sick it into the bottle add a bit of brake flud to the bottle and make sure the bottom of the hose is below the level of the fluid.
Have an assistant push the pedal a few times then hold it down, while it is being held down open the bleeder, fluid will squirt into the bottle. Keep doing this making sure the clutch master stays full of fluid. Eventually all the fluid will be replaced.

yulp. just did that( put a new slave in) its 10mm
If you go air in the line then somthing is leaking. either the slave or the master...check both, master will leak into the cab thru the firwall. slave will leak out on to the ground, You'll be able to tell if its leaking when ya bleed it.

I just replaced both my master and slave last wednesday. The master took a crap on me. It wasn't leaking hardly at all....the leak was inside, and when the pedal was pressed the fluid moved past the seal to the back side of the piston, and just kept doing that, back and forth, so it never formally leaked. I figured out it was doing that when I tried to bleed it and air just kept coming out after about 3 reservoirs worth of fluid. Anyways, I ordered the MAF aftermarket ones (which are Aisin BTW) and it took under an hour to replace them both and bleed. Way easy job.

Here's the weird thing though - there is nothing leaking down the inside of the firewall - even though it looks like the black gasket is perhaps a little wet - and the slave is dry...although I'm not certain that I'm looking at the right thing.

I read your thread - no leaking out of the slave. The master still has fluid in it - althought it's almost black. Don't seen any single leaks, and it has no problem going in and out of gear.... overall, the clutch just engages much higher than it did and has a considerable different feel, though not slipping... I'm thinking about just starting with the master and the slave, then moving from there.
My problem is, I'm not sure where the bleeder valve is located...
