ROTM April 2009: jeverich
Well - where to begin?
Got her in May of 2008, with the refund check that Toyota had so graciously bestowed upon me for my new (to me) 2000 Tacoma.
I know it'll sound corny - but I remember seeing a 60 at a party for a family friend when I was about 12. Those round headlights, tint and the ARB have stuck in my head all of these years.
Anywho - I found her on Craigslist, about 10 minutes from my house. Again - corny - as soon as I pulled up and saw here sitting in the driveway - she had to be mine. Bought her the next day cash in hand. She came with all of the FSMs, a new rear driver door, belts, water pump and various other doo hickeys. I was souped!
Figured she needed some gas after leaving the POs house. Pulled into the Mobil station, topped off the tank, gasp at the fuel bill - then get back in to start her up. Except, no start - WTF. Turns out it was a bad starter solenoid.
I won't bore you guys with anymore of my stories....
Here she is bone stock....
'Evolution of a Cruizah'...
I bought Cruiser88s OME Heavy/Heavy lift w/ 4Plus shackles
(Definite stinkbug w/31s)
IH8SAND...
To present day....
Here's what she's got -
- Weber 38 / Desmog
- Headers
- Racor Water Seperator filter
- Custom smog idler
- Flowmaster ' Super 44 ' w/cat delete
- OME Heavy/Heavy suspension lift
- Man - A - Fre 4Plus shackles
- RockCrawler 97s
- BFG ATs 33 x 10.5s
- Full auxiliary Autometer Gauges (Vac., Water, Oil Press)
- Painless Cirkit Boss 7 Circuit Block (Freakin' sweet)....
- Hella 500s
- Stripped Carpet w/SOR rubber floor mats
- SOR Tuff Duck seat covers
Fresh off of a knuckle rebuild/bearing replacement and Rotor/Caliper replacement. It was fun!
This truck gets me into trouble....
I'll post up some better pics/info when I get back. I'm leaving for a groundfish trip tomorrow (hopefully be back middle of next week)....

Are you kidding? The stories are the best part! Need more info and pics of your auxillary gauges set up. Have fun on the fishing trip and post up when you return!
What is a groundfish anyways?

stories
Well, we blew up a hydraulic steering pump today - so we aren't leaving until tomorrow AM.
As I said - this truck gets me into trouble....
Last year, right after I got the Weber on the truck - decided to have a little wheeling 'adventure'. Keep in mind that the trucks' suspension was still 100% bone stock - with balding General Grabbers.
I digress...
Around where I live, we've got high-tension powerlines that run through the woods - with clear cut cable roads (so crews can access the lines). Well, I'd been past one of these said cable routes a few times before - and had the itch to go test the supposed legacy of the Landcruiser.
Found the road, all the while ignoring several 'no trespassing' signs. Got about 250 feet down the road in 4LO - thinking 'wow this truck is bitchin'....see a big mudhole coming up. Pause, press brakes - ponder - 'gee maybe I shouldn't do this'...fawk it....get about 3/4 of the way through the hole...I'm stuck...really really stuck. Not the 'well, maybe I can get myself out', the ' ' stuck.
....That had been one of the few times in my 18 years that I had the feeling of being utterly and truly fawked.....you know - that feeling deep down in you gut.
No cell service - decide best option is to make the 10 - plus mile hike back home and try to regroup.
Commence to walk back the way I came, when all of a sudden a women yells "Did you get your truck stuck" - I answer a humbe "Yes, I'm stupid". My spirits sink even lower when she informs me "the last kid who got his truck stuck there needed a backhoe to get him out!". Schweet.
Her husband offers to try and pull me out with his Trunda - which I accept. We knot 3 different lengths of chain together to my hitch...
Needless to say, we got her out!
Then came the time when I had a bright idea to tow a pota-potty down the road whilst my buddy rode it down the street. Lesson learned - never underestimate the value of a tow strap.
The other night - pulled a brand new F-250 Powerchoke out of a hole....
Heading out from a party 'round 1AM- I see headlight coming towards me down the road. Turn on my Hella's - truck stops - then headlights dissappear. Drive up - see my friend in a BORROWED truck. Let me make this clear BORROWED truck. Both back tires of the ground - front end in a ditch. Apparently he didn't see the hole he was now parked in.
Get out the tow strap, shackles, flip on the worklight (finally all of that crap is justified!). Hook the truck up, drop her in 4LO - gets the Ford right out - without even missing a beat. Yota's rock.
Groundfish are
- Codfish
- Haddock
- Flounder
- Monkfish
Here's some codfish. (Gutted)

Havnt had a rescue mission yet, but as soon as one comes along, I know my 62 will handle it just fine. And yes, Yota's rock.

Beautiful truck! I like the blacked out grill, etc. It always looks sharp on a blue 60.
You have to have more stories, or pictures, or both...

So how's the knuckle job holding up bro?
You did good.
Sweet rig.
Damn, just broiled two pounds of haddock friday on the grill. We love that fish. What do you guys get a pound up there. It's about 9 bucks down here I think we paid.

We had to run in Sat night because of a gale - 15 foot waves are no fun.
I'll take some pics of my knuckles - the paint hasn't chipped off yet!
Just put on the extended SS lines from Downey - they're bitchin.
thanks for all of the comments
