SOA build up: talk to me about cut and turn

I went to cruiser outfitters and checked out their cut and turn products. But I dont really understand it. I just bought an ARB for the rear. Is the cut and turn a new redesigned third member or do you use the existing one??
thanks,
mark

I may be qaulified to answer this...

The cut and turn axle we offer is simply a modified OEM axle housing. The third member is completely interchangable, nothing is modified in respect to the differential setup.

For the FJ60 axles, we require your core axle to cut and turn, this is due to the fact we have ZERO 60 series axle housings available for modification.

I am working on a Cut & Turn tutorial for my webpage, but in summary...

Purpose: To rotate caster backwardd (to between 3-5 degrees) with respect to the line perpendicular to the ground. At the same time, we rotate the pinion upward to the provided spec (usually between 6-22 degrees) with respect to the line parallel to the ground.

Any other questions? Lemme know

One more thing... Do you recommend cut and turn on both front and rear axles?
Im going to be doing a SOA with OME springs and hopefully a marlin crawler with the stock transfer case. So my rear driveshaft will be significantly shorter.

Mark, hmmm ... a cut-n-turn is done to the axle housing. I think he means he need your front *axle* housing, not the third.

Cheers,
Cahil

Nope, not the third-member (aka pumkin, differential, dropout...) We need the entire front axle housing, no diff, no shafts, no knuckles, just the bare empty housing.

Hey Luvenmud15

Also, check out http://www.proffittscruisers.com/

I bought my cut and turned from them cause they had one in stock and when i am done my SOA, i will send them my stock housing as a core while i build up the cut and turned housing in my garage while still driving them 60 around. It was a lot easier for me to do that then to rip done my rig and send away my one and only housing!

I was VERY please with the quality of work they did on the housing!

My .02

This has changed...

FJ60 Cores now in stock (however they are slightly more expensive than the 40 cores)
