62 Oil pressure sending unit...
My oil pressure gauge quit, checked the OPSU, and it's case had corroded through while hidden under the rubber boot. No biggy. Ordered another one from Kurt along with some other stuff.
Problem is, my gauge doesn't work after the new one found it's new home.
I get 12.3v at the wire terminal, (about a .3v drop from batt voltage) and the gauge pegs high when wire grounded. The OPSU is grounded properly, as I have continuity between the case and the neg batt terminal.
My questions are; How do I test this brand new OPSU before ruling it DOA, and is there something obvious I'm overlooking. I know very well I could install a mech gauge, just looking to get the stocker working for now.

I've just gotten back around to addressing this. Any insights, fellas?

I think you need to replace your fuel gauge too.

Huh?
(And yes, I know the story on the related issue of a wonky fuel gauge...don't think it applies here as the fuel gauge has never misbehaved). The oil pressure gauge appears to work, as it falls dead without a ground, pegs with grounding, and 12v gets to the sending unit. However, I'm surely willing to learn, if there's something I've missed.

I had the same thing a few years ago. First was the OPSU. Then they ended up replacing the gauge. It's been fine ever since....

If the wire from the OPSU touched ground it kills the gauge. So theoretically if the OPSU goes bad and goes straight to ground, it will fry then gauge as well.

I agree. Mine still responds appropriately when grounded/ungrounded, so I hope that's enough to rule a dead gauge out.
I have a little time today to quit e-wrenching and to actually eyeball the truck some more. I'll see how it goes soon enough, I suppose.

yep. Testing info for the gauge and sender is in the body and chassis fsm. Next time I get to it, I'll test it out.
