Bronson

Introducing my rig "Bronson." Normally, I'm over in the 55 section cause of my 74 pig. Anyway, I picked up this 1985 FJ60 from craigslist for 2500. Rust is at a minimum IMO. Some of the doors and tailgate are rusted through in small patches. However, the roof is entirely intact. It's got a safari snorkel and conferr rack. 88k original miles. Here's some pics:

Plans are for it to go to my brother if he'll take it. His Isuzu tranny died. It will more than likely get a makeover after I get back from deployment next year.

Looks like a good start, particularly with the low miles. Start planning to deal with the rust.

Nice, love the camo. looks like it could do with an SOA or at least a birthday for the springs and shocks etc. Nice

I would start on the rust immediately but I'm getting deployed in the next few days, so I've been concentrating on my FJ55. I'm trying to get it drivable for my father in case he needs to move it around or something.

That's amazing! I didn't think there was sound to this website untill I saw that picture of your opened hood and I could distinctly hear the word "Desmog!" over and over...

Not much to update-I'm on R and R until later on this month.
Gonna take the roof rack off. I'm thinking of painting it an OEM red when I finish deployment and have more free time. After the rust is fixed of course.

Finally back and in school. First thing to do is cooling issues, then paint/cosmetics.

So I need a new radiator, I'm getting 6 mpg and I've started picking out my rattle can paint job. So far, I've tried rustoleum semi-gloss black. I've got some black satin that I will try out next. Still trying to find matte black.

You get 6 mpg and you're concerned about the paint?

No just reporting information as it comes. Never knew there was anything wrong until I got back from deployment and just realized recently that I fill up more than I should.

So continuing from the a/c refrigerant thread, I had a great adventure today. So, I'm still trying to fix the a/c and decided to pull the glovebox to see what I could reach back there. I pulled everything out and found the largest mouse nest I have ever seen! Pics to follow and yes that is a dead/mummified mouse near the center. So, continuing on I pulled about the case for the evaporator which meant I had to take out the amplifier. I found pic 2 which I now believe to be the source of my problem. Of course, so where can I get an amplifier from?
