Leaf Springs... Which ones are worthy?

I am getting ready to replace my springs on my '87 Cruiser. Her name is "LC Rojo," as my kids so thoughtfully named her. She is in great shape but has a significant lean towards the drivers side. After new shocks from Les Schwab I found that its more than that and new Springs will need to come next. I don't want to put something on her I will regret. I'm not the Mudd'n type, but do use it out hunting, gravel roads to the family cabin and for small commutes to work. I'm also not interested in anything more than an inch or so over stock. I would appreciate any proven comments about this. Thanks guys!

Look for a set of stock FJ62 springs. It won't give a lift, but the springs will be newer and the rears are said to be less likely to go flat. It should be perfect for your uses.

Browsing the classified section long enough should net you a set of springs with some life left in em. Also consider long add-a-leafs, but they would require some extra head scratching to overcome the notorious cruiser lean you've been blessed with.

2x

2x on the long AAL's for your application or just do a bit more and do OME mediums and some bilsteins (5125's) It will be a bit of dough but with your stated use, will last for a long time

OMEs

I have had the same set of OMEs on for the last 11 years. During that time I have have put 180K on the rig. You can't buy a better leaf spring, and they ride SOOOOO nice!

I just installed 4 man-a-fre add-a-leafs. It was a major pain but I think it was worth it. The front end is sitting a little high but I think thats because 1/2 of the engine is out of it right now. The guys at MAF(very helpful i might add) told me that the springs would settle a little bit(i hope). I have BFG AT 31x10.5x15 on there. I would have gone with 33's but I dont wheel much at all and I didnt want to have to regear. Anyway, good luck with your decision. Here is some before and after pictorial visualization that we all love so much.

Thanks Trapper,
Not without my share of blood, sweat and well... more blood. Especially from the knuckles(mine not the cruisers). I sure am learning a lot though.
Thanks,
Paul

With your desired use I would strongly consider the Heystee 50MM system. After beating my self to death with stock springs on the highway and trail for two years and then switching to their taller system I will never have another stock sprung 60 series. The ride is uncomparable. Honestly it's like being in Gretchen (Woody's 80 series). I'm thinking after he gets some progress on his HZJ75 and I let him beat the FJ62 for a while I'd bet he goes for Parabolics also.
