Mea Culpa
Well,
It seems as though lately a fair amount of the information I have been disseminating has been erroneous or misguided or outright wrong. It is not my intention to misinform or confuse and I do not try to talk out my arse. Sometimes I pass on incomplete knowledge but more often than not I have a less than complete understanding of something I think I grasp. I think I just feel guilty for asking so many questions and not trying to help and contribute as well. So, lifers, thank you for correcting me when I'm wrong (mostly politely) and I'll shut up until I learn some more. This resource is only as good as the information in its responses. So I'll leave that up to people that know more than me.

well i think youre a pretty darn good resource... i wouldnt be too hard on yourself, no one knows everything but everyone knows something... and you know more than me
![]() ps i think apologizing on internet forums is kinda... ehh? its an internet forum... people take these things way too seriously. i used to get all worked up about internet arguments and be all apologetic afterwards and stuff, then i realized that there are much more important things to worry about... like where im gonna get the money for that 4bt... and to keep it tech... my alternator died and i was able to make it a half hour drive home on jsut the battery, at night, with driving lights on __________________ Sept. 1985 FJ60, bike hauler with attitude ![]()

...and what lights are better? IPF's or PIAA's?
I just didn't want people to think I was spouting off like I knew everything and was wrong all the time, without acknowledging that I was missing the mark here and there. __________________ 83 FJ60-5" ALCANS-HYSTEER-80 TRE's-RICEBUILT RODS-AUSSIELOCKER-ARB DeerSlayer-LONGFIELDS-35" MTR's-BILSTEIN 5150's-Warn M8000-Ultimate Air-Defender Rack-Rising Sun Roof Clamps-Yukons-Thanks Ige-Groucho-EricS-Corbett-Schmoozer-DurangoDDS-Zen80-Marlin-Bobby-Proffitts |

There is not one person on here that knows everything about every Landcruiser built. Most people can only make an educated guess on what the problem is based on what is posted up as the questions. Everbody has different skill levels and experience with thier cruisers.
There are some extremely knowledgeable people in every era and area of the Landcruisers world. For questions regarding things with Gears, Poser is the "Go To" man. For carburetor questions FJ40Jim is the "Go-To" man. Turbo charging questions the "Go To Guys" are Mace and Matt Mcinnes, etc. __________________ Cruiser Dan at American Toyota Phone is 1-800-432-6668 ext. 8 (I am not cruiser Dan) |

I think most of us are still learning from the old salts. I welcome anyones advice or input. It is up to me to decide to use it or not. I have always found your posts to be helpful. I think mud is a rarity in forums in that everyone sorta plays it cool and doesnt get hung up on the nonsense.
Oh and my alternator is from a GM- I think it is putting out 155amps. I want to switch it back to toyota but then replacement will be much cheaper. __________________ 1986 Toyota Landcruiser FJ60 "The Colonel" 2002 Toyota Tacoma Limited DC 4x4 "Hi-Ho" 1999 Toyota 4Runner SOLD "Marshmellow" Upstate Cruisers TLCA#18436 |

Ohhhh stop it..
The exchange of information here is the important part. If you are not giving good advice, it tends to come out ![]() We all say than you for the information that you have given. Thanks guys.
I really do wanna know why PIAA and IPF lights are so expensive, is it the quality of the light they emit or the durability or what. Right now I'm looking at Procomps pretty seriously as often as I would use them compared to PIAA 520's at like 200 a pair, geez __________________ 83 FJ60-5" ALCANS-HYSTEER-80 TRE's-RICEBUILT RODS-AUSSIELOCKER-ARB DeerSlayer-LONGFIELDS-35" MTR's-BILSTEIN 5150's-Warn M8000-Ultimate Air-Defender Rack-Rising Sun Roof Clamps-Yukons-Thanks Ige-Groucho-EricS-Corbett-Schmoozer-DurangoDDS-Zen80-Marlin-Bobby-Proffitts Last edited by Trapper50cal; 07-01-08 at 09:31 AM. I thought all the info here it's based on a personal experience and you need to take it as is .. or at least mine, coz I'm not a certified mechanic or nothing related.
IMOP IPF are better light .. but I just use Warn SDB-210 coz I believe they offer better benefits for the cost.

I think D'Animal hit on a few folks here that know their shtuff but I'd like to add a few. Mace, D'Animal, Crazy88, Gumby, 4Rnr, WebelK, Oldnslo to just hit on a few of the top names in my book. I know I missed a few but hey I have a non existent memory. __________________ "We are not the base, we are the 2% lunatic fringe." - Ed97Fzj80 89 FJ62 - nicely modded (OME heavy lift and shocks, lunchboxed rear, ProComp M/T's w/ Rockcrawlers, 4Runner front d/b's, de-smogged) 07 FJC - nicely modded (Toytec lift,OME shocks, Digger Link LCA's, Revo's, JBA headers, aFe CAI) |

Sure - now you come clean after I followed your advice and sold my oil futures to buy a 1000 shares of Enron And don't get me started on how you talked me into that "quaint little vacation timeshare in Anbar province." And the whole "you don't need protection" advice! Well, those antibiotics may help me, but they won't help the landcruiser!
