Am I too tall.

I'm about 6'3" and looking to get an Fj60, Fj62. Will I comfortably fit in one?
Thanks!

If you have long legs you may be a little uncomfortable. I was surprised when I got mine how close the pedals were even with the seat moved all the way back.

I'm 6' tall. Am I alone in this? Maybe my seat doesn't work correctly. When I bought mine I had to drive it 800 miles on Interstate. My right leg was so cramped up after that trip because I couldn't fully extend it. I have since added an aftermarket cruise control, which helps the highway travel immensely.

I am 6'4" and 240 lbs and I'm not that uncomfortable in my 60. Its not a ride where you can really stretch your legs but its not like riding in a compact car either.

I have had mine down in Mexico on a couple different occassions and those were long road trips. Go drive one and see what you think.

I am 6'5" and I fit comfotably in a 1988 FJ62. I don't like the head reast being so low but it works for regular driving. If you're gonna be commuting in it or spending a lot of time in it then I'd suggest a drivers chair upgrade like I'm looking into.

The straight answer though is yes, you'll fit you short basard.

I'm 5 11" and my seat's as far back as it will go, and sometimes it feels a little too short. I think you'll just have to get in one and try it 'cause everyone sits differently...

My feeling is that it's a matter of perspective. If you've been DDing an FJ40 for a while, a 60 series will feel like a Cadillac. OTOH, if you've been driving a Dodge Quadcab, you may feel cramped.

I'm 6'2" and I drove mine back from SLC with no problems.

6' 1". No problems here.

Drove my 60 from Tucson to NYC and didn't mind it at all.

The FJ62 does feel like a truck bench seat rather than new SUV's but it's nowhere near as cramped as an FJ40.

I like the feel of my 40 over my 60 personally. I'm 6' 1" But I have long lower legs, compared to my thighs, so that makes my legs fit differently than some. Go sit in one and see what you think.

One thing that both improved and degraded my seating in my 60 was a new lower seat cusion from SOR. My seat was pretty crushed. I was getting terrible lower back pain, long torso and bad lumbar support in a 60. I was also bottoming out on bumps and striking my tailbone the seat was so wore out. So I got a new foam. It feels better now that it has crushed down a bit the last couple years, however, my head room was severly decreased. I have about an inch or two only now and feel cramped against the roof. Seat feels better though, no back pain or butt pain, but the loss of headroom is a drawback. I should add I drive with the seat back nearly vertical, it just feels better to me that way. I feel drunk and lost if a seat is reclined too far. I like to be able to sit up and see out over the hood. My wife who is only a tad shorter likes the seat reclined a bit, but then bitches cause she is looking through the steering wheel. I haven't convinced her of the benefits of sitting upright and having better visibility.

I'm 6'6" and 270, after 280,000 miles the drivers seat was a little broken down, so I put in Volvo Seats. I don't regret the getting the truck at all, but I also don't mind driving my '85 Toyota PU (2wd, standard cab).

Another 6 footer here, have had my 60 for 8 years now, DD every now & then. You'll fit.

It's not a newer rig where the seats are super adjustable, but you won't feel like you're hugging the steering wheel.

My 2c

Big boy

I am 6" 7' 265 pounds and no real problems here.

Maybe the seat is lacking support, but thats more a weight issue I gess...

On longer trips I use the hand throttle, to reduce the stress in the right knee. I put my right foot somewhere between gearshifter and my wive.
Makes sudden traffic jams more ... ehhh... interesting...

Good luck!

Did ya call him "Longshanks"? I can't believe several posters, even taller than my 6'5", find the leg room adequate in a stock 60 series.
Perhaps we should be comparing inseam lengths rather than height.

Mo Leg Room

After I got the 5.7 Vortec & 4L60E in my '84 60 I removed the OEM gas pedal & replaced it with a Lokar model. Then I re-configured the brake pedal to the correct height & placement & added a Lokar '55 Chev brake pedal pad to it. A LX450 dead pedal rounded out the trio & I have leg room to spare (I'm 6-2 on a good day).

Next is a pair of '93 Audi UrS4 Recaro recliners & it'll be a dream to drive.
