very simple mod for the wife

She is driving the 60 now everyday and complained about finding the dipstick... so I picked up a little bright yellow rattle can...

Good idea - Now, your wife will always be able to find your dipstick.
probably easier to find when the light is low also.

And she is a keeper.

All women are keepers.

However, some loose a little and that's why we have dipsticks!

Another great and simple addition with bigtime Wife Approval Factor is adding a grab handle to the A pillar in the passenger side. Find one like the one the driver A pillar and, if you are lucky, the captive nuts are already in place under the headliner in a similar spot on the passenger side. Not positive that 60s have the nuts in place but most 62s that I've tried it on do. Nutcerts work on those that don't. Use an ice pick or somthing like that to find the holes. It's my wife's favorite mod on the 62 and anything that makes the wife happy with the Cruiser is a good thing!

I agree with Steve. It may be different for the younguns on the board, but my wife and I are in our 50s and the passenger-side grab handle is really the only mod my wife gives a damn about.

LOL, I did that for myself soon after I got the truck, because the thing was so damn hard to see in low light.

I have wanted to add this handle for a while. I have not been able to feel the openings through the liner. Anyone have pics of this handle to of the A pillar with the liner removed. Pics from an earlier model 60 would be ideal.

So far, just mirroring the location of the driver A to the passenger B pillar has been effective in locating the holes. Something like an ice or shop pick makes it easy to do the locating without leaving visible holes in the headliner material.

If that is strictly a 62 item, I stand corrected.

maybe it is strictly a 62 item, but could you post a picture anyway. I would like to poke around the area where they are on the 62. My wife is very interested in this mod.

nice billmc...I think I'll do the same. like Overhanger said, were the captive nuts pre-installed for the handle?

on the same note of Wife Approval Factor, I'm planning on a adding vanity mirror w/ a light. any suggestions? remember lads, if we're smart, then let the ladies get their mods, n they'll never question what you spend on your rig...

Yes, they're there under the headliner. I bought the handle, screws, and screw covers from my local Toyota dealer--not expensive at all.

The fact that your wife (a) knows how to check the oil and (b) gives a shit enough to is really impressive.

An alternative to the A-pillar handle is the 62 dash handle - easy to install as well. My girlfriend does this cute little combo move where she grabs both and pulls herself in. Fun to watch.

All these 62 handles must be because only really old people drive them....

Mine has an extension that was welded on by a PO, and painted red to boot.

Who has a good mod on how to find the dipstick hole in low light once you're done?

I know, a flashlight, but still...
